WENTs are back for November and December

Our WENTs are back! What a better way to spend dark, cold, wet nights than to get out with a map, compass and head-torch and do some orienteering with fellow club members? With only one event to go (Todd’s Leap) winners and final battles are starting to appear all over the place (and one champion has emerged!). TrailO Final Round Tomorrow

The fifth and final TempO cluster of the 2024 TrailO Champs will be set up alongside the NI Colour Series event at Glengariff Forest tomorrow. It is intended that you come along to make decisions after your run; the location is close to the car park on the path to the café/toilets. 17 folk have so far attempted the mandatory 2 clusters and another 27, with a single cluster to date, could come into contention for the TrailO title. Registration is now open for our next Club Meet on Saturday 9 November at Tyrella Dunes / Ballykinler Training Camp. This time it will be complex contours on dunes, a chance to practice on this type of map before next year’s Irish Orienteering Championships. TrailO Champs conclusion

The final episode of the 2024 Club TrailO Champs takes place alongside NISeries6 at Glenariff next Saturday (for which entries close on Monday at 11p.m. – no entry fee for the TrailO). As previously it takes the form of a TempO cluster (6 kites, 6 decisions against the clock, time penalties for wrong decisions). Best of Luck to James Ewart at this weekend’s JHI

Best of luck to LVO’s James Ewart who is travelling to East Anglia this weekend as part of the Irish squad to take part in this year’s Junior Home International (JHI) in the M14 class. The JHI is an annual competition between teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The JHI is always in the autumn and consists of an individual on the Saturday and a relay on Sunday.
