On Saturday 8 August, Lagan Valley Orienteers is hosting The Original Mourne Seven Sevens Challenge Walk and Race – our biggest fundraiser of the year. As you may know, the Seven Sevens is no ordinary challenge – it’s an 18-mile trek across all seven Mourne peaks over 700 metres, with over 2,500 metres of climbing. With 2 events left, the standings in the hCALF tables are getting interesting. In the hCOW table (best scores for consistency) Nat Kerr is holding the lead, but with quite a few 3-event scorers having accumulated fewer place points there could be changes ahead. The Regatta table (best scores for improvement) is closely fought with Chloé Campbell in pole place to retain her title from last year. Well done Chloé – must be the Ormiston air! 😌 When arriving to set up, the calmness of the Campbell College grounds was very welcome after the craziness on Belfast streets the previous evening. That calmness was short lived, however, when over 100 participants arrived with smiles and welcomes to all, ready for some fast and furious running whilst trying not to get lost around this stunning school venue. 🧭 So what about the courses?
