It is with great sadness that we report the untimely passing of Gordie Mahood on 5th February. Gordie was an enthusiastic orienteer, a loyal member of Lagan Valley Orienteers and a dedicated organiser. Many will have last seen him at Tyrella in November, quietly ensuring that everything was properly organised in a way that would bring the most satisfaction to his fellow orienteers. Gordie has been living with cancer for a number of years, but still managed to contribute greatly to the orienteering community. NIOA and its associated clubs have been searching for a way to present a unified calendar of fixtures. No universally successful way has been found (the search continues). The most successful approach found to date is “oevents.info”. Here you can see a schedule of all fixtures in NI, level B fixtures in NI and beyond and level A fixtures across the UK. Unfortunately this list is not “mobile-friendly” and the fixture links are to the BOF website (whereas fixture information is usually on the host club’s website). Yes it’s a thing! Restarts Wednesday 9th January. Meeting Malone RFC, ready to run at 7pm. Bring a headtorch and some trail shoes. We can go do some exploring 🙂 Running Training is for All Levels. We jog together over to Orangefield Park. We warm up together, smile for the camera, complete the session at our own pace, jog home together, lots of stretching and all done by 8:15pm. Then a chance for a coffee or a cheeky schoolnight pint in the bar at the rugby club. See you there 🙂

It shows the 2018 results contributing to your current standard and the colour event programme for 2019 at which you can try to climb the colour ladder. Happy New O-Year! The 2018 Roll of Honour is now available; go “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Roll of Honour”. It’s open for audit – please have a look and let me know of any errors and/or omissions – I’ll be happy to make the appropriate amendments. This is the only history of the club’s activities both in and out of the forest so please have look and make a NYResolution to increase the number of times you get a mention in the 2019 version; there are plenty of ways to do that!
