2017 – The Year of the LVO Volunteer?

Our 2017 fixtures are starting to take shape.  Have a look, and you’ll see that each event now has a Volunteer Roster.  This is a 12-month trial to promote and encourage all our volunteers, yes that’s all of us who make our club such a success; the planners, controllers & organisers, the on-the-day helpers, and the behind-the-scenes elves.  More details on the trial will appear in the next few days – and you can always take a look & start volunteering now. In particular there are 2 Score Training events in January which will be pretty informal (car boot style) Read More …

WENT 2016 Finale – Wed 14 Dec – Belvoir Forest UPDATE

Early birds should find room to park in the courtyard; later comers may have to use the main car park. The courtyard will be signed. After a cracking (but slightly poorly supported) WENT in Wallace Park last week (which caught even a few experienced orienteers on the wrong side of the fence!) the final WENT for 2016 will be run at Belvoir Forest on Wednesday 14 Dec. This will be your Read More …

Have you already been asked to control – or do you think you are going to be? Did you have a good idea Read More …

2016 Colour Standards

Following the final colour event of the year last Saturday at Donard Forest the Colour Standards list has been updated and the 2016 achievements transferred to the Colour History list.  Both can be found in the LVO Cloud at “CONTACT US/Documents/Public documents/Colour Standards”.  Those who have achieved a standard for the first time and those who have improved their standard have their colour listed in upper case; they are entitled to receive the corresponding badge.  These are usually distributed at the AGM. I find the history list somewhat depressing as it shows the extent of the membership turnover through the Read More …

WENT 6 Wallace Park 7 Dec

Thanks to Conor, Susan, Cara, Sean, Richard, Sid and Pete who stepped up to put on last week’s WENT in Dixon Park, 25 got to run Helen’s challenges. It is great to see club members coming to the fore when needed. This week we are in Wallace Park in Lisburn. We have used the park before for MicrO sessions in the summer months but we have not been there at night for some time. The park is small and so we will also be venturing out into the local street network. There will be absolutely no need for any crossing of Read More …
