SPRING CUP COMES TO CRAWFORDSBURN Looking forward to seeing a great turnout at this Saturday’s Spring Cup in Crawfordsburn.  The village is signposted from the Belfast – Bangor A2 road about 4 miles from Bangor.  Please follow the one-way system, past the Country Park Centre and downhill to the carpark nearest to the beach where you will find the MOO for registration.  The start will be a taped 10 minute walk from the parking.  There will be the usual 3 courses – Green, Orange and Yellow.  Runners on the Yellow course must use the bridges to cross the river. As many of you might suspect I need help, but no, I don’t mean me on this occasion.As you should hopefully know by now, because I’ve been plugging it enough, in a week and a half’s time a new Urban O Series commences in Portadown. The opening event of NI’s first Urban Orienteering League: The format – Middle Distance Urban – no nettles or brambles (unless you seek them out), little mud, and you can show off your legs if you wish. Courses: There will be three courses on offer so everyone is catered for whatever your ability and experience, be it complete beginner or NI Champion. Tables Updated

The Spring Cup Standings and the Colour Standards Table have been updated following today’s SkiO(!) event at Woodburn. The Spring Cup is based on place points with two results to count; those who have got the 2 are shown with an asterisk. The Colour Standards table also shows your membership status, even if you have no results counting. If you’re in the pink you have forgotten to renew for 2019; remember that event insurance rquirements allow a maximum of 3 events to non-members. The Colour Standards table and the NISeries tables have been updated/created following the NWOC event last Saturday at Downhill. They can be found in the folders “Colour Standards” and “NISeries” in “Resources>LVO Public Folders”.

Orchard County Orienteers present : OCOUL 2019 What is it?? NI’s first Urban Orienteering League:7 races, 7 different maps, 5 scores to count, all in the ABC area.The format – Middle Distance Urban – no nettles or brambles ( unless you seek them out ), little mud, and you can show off your legs if you wish. LVO Clubmark Award

Two weeks ago Juls Hanvey (Active Clubs Coordinator) and I attended the SportNI Sportmaker Awards 2018 Celebration Event in the Titanic Centre. The main business of the evening was to present awards to a number of coaches and club officials, but we were one of a number of clubs to receive our Clubmark NI award. The Colour Standards table has been updated, and the interim Spring Cup table created, following the exertions last weekend at Belfast Castle. They can be found at “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Colour Standards” and “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Club Colour Series” respectively. To achieve a colour standard you need three results within a 12-month period; the Spring Cup is based on place points with your 2 best performances to count.
