Travel Funding Claims

Just a reminder that anyone who hasn’t submitted claims yet for 2018 travel funding needs to do so straight away as this year’s sums are about to be done! You can check if you’re eligible for support from the club for travelling to representative events by looking at the Senior and Junior funding policies on the LVO website under Resources / Travel Funding. Email treasurer@lvo.org.uk if you’ve any questions.

Portadown & the People’s Park

I hope you all enjoyed your runs on Sunday. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who turned up, especially all my Southern visitors. You very nearly outnumbered those from the north. It’s just a shame the weather wasn’t nicer, but hopefully it didn’t detract too much from the enjoyment of your run. I’ve already noted that A3 may be the order of the day next time around. Not because we need to extend the map but just to keep some of you on it. I know everyone likes to analyse their runs these days so in keeping Read More …

A big thank you to Eibhlin and Connor for setting out WENT 5 in poor weather last week and congratulations to those runners brave enough to turn out! This week we are in Belvoir Forest, meeting in the main car park at 7.00pm on Wednesday for the 7.30pm mass start. The controls have been sited to avoid too much hill climb and to allow the fastest to get onto finding long words. There is something for everyone, novice or well practised alike. You’ll need a headtorch, watch, compass and suitable footwear. As usual the cost is £2 for members and Read More …

Missing your fix of O? Well don’t worry, we haven’t finished for the year yet. Out here amongst the orchards we still have 2 events left before the Xmas break, and next up is this Sunday afternoon in Portadown where we have a Middle Distance Urban on offer. A new map and a new area to almost all. Enjoyed the Craigavon WEE? Or couldn’t make that event but heard how enjoyable it was? Well this will be right up your street ( sorry 🙂 ). For those of you who like urban events you can even treat this as a Read More …

Colour Standards Updated

Following Saturday’s final colour event of the year, at Tyrella, the colour standards have been updated and your entry showing under “2018 standard” will go into the historical record.  The final event of 2017, at Carnfunnock, could still contributing to your “current standard” as its within the one year window but it will be discarded at the turn of the year when the table is reset for 2019 so there may be some folk whose standard is yet to change for the worse – the bad news is that you can do nothing about that!

Results are up for Colour Series 6 – Tyrella

Results are now up on the LVO website for Colour Series 6 at Tyrella. Well done all, especially planner, organiser, other helpers and cake stall!

WENT 4 Change – Botanic and QUB on 21 Nov

The WENT schedule has changed: WENT 4 on 21 Nov will now use the Botanic Gardens and Queen’s campus map and WENT 5 on 28 Nov will be in Barnett Demesne BUT ONLY IF …. The O’Boggle will be planned, control sites taped and maps printed in time to be picked up with the controls immediately after next week’s WENT at Queen’s. The Baxters won’t be available for WENT 5 so, if there is to be a WENT, we need a volunteer! Let me know (philip@niorienteering.org.uk) if you can take Read More …
