WEE Age/Gender Handicap Results

Earlier this evening Alan published the hCalf results for the first of the competitive WEE events in 2023. hCalf provides a competitive format for all, including those who may have a long term injury. In the past the WEE series had a handicap system for age and gender. Encouraged by the wishes of LVO members, the Committee decided this should be restored. Accordingly tonight also sees the restoration of those results. Each event is scored on a handicap basis and each month of WEEs forms a league series. These results were formerly published on the WEE website but this year Read More …

First hCALF table published

From the Ballyclare WEE1 results the first hCALF (=WEE hCOW) table has been computed, showing the speeds achieved and therefore your handicap going forward. Since there were no handicaps being brought forward everyone is treated as having an Initiate run and no points are assigned. You may notice that the course length differs from that given in the control descriptions; this is because, for compatibility with the parkland events coming up, the length quoted is the minimum possible (no swimming the river or crashing through people’s gardens) rather than the straight-line route. To see the table from the home page Read More …

Here comes WEE!

Entries are now open for the June WEE Series, starting next Wednesday in Ballyclare. As before, there will be hCOW tables generated from the long course results (they are kept separate from the colour series tables due to the differing technical difficulty of the WEE events affecting the handicap consistencies). Unlike the colour series which carried over last year’s handicaps to the first event, next Wednesday will be used to generate handicaps for all finishers so will not assign points. That means the series will run over the remaining seven events with the best four to count. To distinguish them Read More …

Note for WEE teams

Organisers/Planners please note that Map Printing Services is available for the June events. There may be a gap in availablity in August due to holiday plans – yet to be determined in detail.

This is just the beginning of the Strategic Plan and it is important that we all (the whole LVO membership) are aware of and continue to be part of this process. The LVO Committee and LVO members on the NIOA Committee have been invited to attend a strategic planning workshop to look at the results of the review. This meeting will be held on Saturday 17 June. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the opportunity for our club officials Read More …

Tables Updated after Gortalughany

The various tables have got the treatment – they can now be accessed, thanks to some tidying work by Geoffrey Collins, from the “Standings” section on the website (immediately following “”Results”). No colour event dropped off the 12-month window so the Colour Standards table shows consolidation for some folk – no turning up with the pressure of needing a good run to maintain your standard! The hCOW table shows that, although going was reportedly slow, there was near-equality between the winners and losers leading to a small positive event variance and therefore not as much handicap movement as some might Read More …

👏More buckets full of thanks and apologies!

I thought I might miss out thanking some people in my last post, but I can’t believe I missed out our Assistant Planners and Assistant Controllers – SORRY, forgiveness requested 🙏 Michael Burton supported Philip with the planning and indeed securing access to the grounds of the Planetarium. As if this wasn’t enough, he gave a presentation on the Cosmos the evening before the Sprint! Graeme Francis also assisted in the planning and as mapper of Armagh, knew the place inside out so was instrumental in selecting the locations and gaining access to such great areas. Helen Baxter was the Read More …
