Equipment Day – Saturday 21st August

This Saturday we’ll be sorting out and cleaning up our club equipment in preparation for a move to new premises. Our Kilwee store has been an ideal facility for many years but all good things come to an end and we are moving to a temporary store at Ballyclare – thank you Wilbert for the use of your shed – while we look for a permanent home. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if you can only spare an hour or two, between 10.00 and 4.00. If you haven’t been there before you can find directions here, or give Read More …

An Account of the Bob Graham Round

Andrew and Alan Elwood have written an account of their Bob Graham Round. It is an interesting read, showing just how much preparation and logistic support is required if you are to attempt a challenge on this scale. The account goes beyond a description of what happened during the 24 hours. It provides valuable information about training, food, support team and recce for anyone thinking of taking up the “BGR” challenge or, indeed, a similar challenge. Their first “attempt” converted to a completed “round” at their first go, in June 2021. The account is here. The account will have ongoing Read More …

hCOW Results are in

The WEE hCOW table has been updated from the Bangor Castle results. Resources/OneDrive Public/hCOW/hCOW2021 They show a large variance in performance against handicap, from Anne Bell having hers cut by 1:06 mins/km to Fred Hamond having his raised by 0:55 mins/km. Despite propping up the race results (by a long way!) I demonstrated the hCOW concept of regularity by having my handicap increase by a mere 5 secs/km. I can easily account for those by my headless chicken act in trying to follow the indistinct tracks in the woodland!

🏆NI Champs 2021 Report🏆

Well done all who took part in the NI Sprint and Middle Distance races on Saturday. As always, a huge deal of effort and fun goes into putting events on, especially if there are two in one day in different locations. All involved in the volunteer teams did an amazing job! So although there is a list of winners below, the people we need to applaud most are the volunteer team who enable us to have fun competing. Special thanks to Sharon, Billy and Conor who organised and planned the Sprint at UU Jordanstown, Aileen, Wilbert and Richard who sorted Read More …
