🏆NI Champs 2021 Report🏆

Well done all who took part in the NI Sprint and Middle Distance races on Saturday.

As always, a huge deal of effort and fun goes into putting events on, especially if there are two in one day in different locations. All involved in the volunteer teams did an amazing job!

So although there is a list of winners below, the people we need to applaud most are the volunteer team who enable us to have fun competing. Special thanks to Sharon, Billy and Conor who organised and planned the Sprint at UU Jordanstown, Aileen, Wilbert and Richard who sorted out the Middle Distance at Woodburn Forest and Mark who managed all the SIEntries and Timing.

It was great to see a good number up from the South, especially since Woodburn was being used as a Junior selection race. There were also a number of Orienteers from England and Scotland over on their holidays – this all helped add to the occasion and made things even more competitive.

The great weather meant that we all had a good chance to safely catch up under the sun in the now normal socially distanced way.

Well done to all our winners!

Due to Juniors selection, in the middle distance event the M16- lads ‘ran up’ to course 2. The first three Irish Juniors home were Dan Murphy, Ben Cairns and Oliver O’Kane all within 8 minutes of each other. Peter Gamble LVO also raced this course along with two other M16- Juniors. Great effort and well done to you all on completing this challenging course and good luck with selection!
