WEE Series 2017

As I’m sure you are all aware, we are now only 1 week away from the start of May ( where has the year gone?! ) and consequently the start of this year’s WEE Series! This year some of you may notice a few changes to the WEE from previous years as I have been allowed to stir the pot a little: I have been granted permission to tinker at a few events… For the whole month of June, but starting in May at Craigavon, there will be an additional course for the more experienced to try their hand at. Spring Cup 3 – Hillsborough – Saturday 22nd April

We look forward to seeing you at the final Spring Cup competition of the year. Hillsborough Forest is a beautiful venue at this time of year and Heather has planned challenging courses for us, so don’t spend too much time admiring the view! As always, there are courses to suit everybody and beginners will be made very welcome. Perhaps this is the ideal time for you to try the great sport of orienteering? Registration is in the forest car park from 11:30. Please note that the courses close at 15:00 sharp.

2017 AGM

A draft of the Minutes of the 2017 AGM at Woodburn on 11th March 2017 is now available here. At the AGM, Chairman Wilbert Hollinger reported on some significant achievements during the year, whilst Harry Bell described the surprising amount of money it takes to keep LVO and its equipment functioning. The Steve McGibbon Trophy, named after a former Treasurer, honours the person or group who provided the most outstanding contribution to the club’s affairs in the previous year. This year the award is shared by the current Treasurer, Harry Bell, and the website master, Jeff Johnson. The Club adopted Read More …

Colour Standards Updated

The Colour Standards list has been updated with the Learmount Wood results and can be found in the “Colour Standards” folder at contact us>documents>Public documents.  As ever, red indicates non-membership – the records are being retained in case that “oversight” gets rectified.

NISeries, Colours of Spring tables updated

The current NISeries and Final Colours of Spring tables have been updated with the Learmount Wood results and can be found in the NISeries folder – go contact us>documents>public documents>NISeries.  Congratulations to Spring Winners Ben Cairns, Heather Cairns, Peter Gamble, Juls Hanvey, Lauren Howe, Richard McCourt and Ann Savage. This represents less than 50% of the classes going to LVO and very few at the elite end – get out there into the forests, folks!

hCOW is coming. Read about it here

This is an experiment to see if there is scope for an alternative form of FootO competition.  Have a read and let me know if you want to be in on the trial. This is an embedded Microsoft Office PDF, powered by Office Online. This document, and any results which may be generated, can be found in the hCOW folder in the Public Documents section of the LVO cloud. Alan Gartside

Updated Tables

The NISeries and Colours of Spring tables are available in the NISeries folder in “Public Documents”; congratulations to those who have already won their Colours class (shown in red).  The Colour Standards table has been brought up-to-date in its folder; the red in it indicates those who, according to my latest copy of the membership list, have not renewed for 2017.

Club funding for representative events.

This is just a reminder that LVO will help out with your costs if you travel to  a competition for which you have been selected to represent your club or country. The club’s funding policy for Seniors is here. The Junior funding policy is here and also under the Juniors menu. The policies contain details of how you can apply for funding. Please remember to keep your receipts and apply promptly!   If you have any queries I will be happy to help; just email treasurer@lvo.org.uk Happy orienteering! Harry
