Looking for Hub Help!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some additional help for our hubs!  We have a busy programme, and turns out a good few of our regulars are away, so some extra hands on deck would be great! You don’t need to be a coach, or even have oodles of experience!  The courses are planned.  I’m looking for a couple of people happy to volunteer for an hour or so on the day – registration sheets / chats / encouragement / using dibbers / working the miniprinter.  I was recently told, “It’s actually quite fun isn’t it”.  Yes it is! Next up Read More …

International Representation for LVO Junior Athletes

When you first take a map in your hand to tackle a short WEE course or a white course in a colour series you may not know where it will lead – literally or figuratively! For two of LVO’s junior athletes it has led to Bulgaria this summer. Andrew Elwood (M18) and Peter Reed (M16) will be representing Ireland against 27 other nations in the European Youth Orienteering Championships (EYOC) from 28th June to 1st July 2018. This is Andrew’s second time at EYOC and Peter’s first. EYOC is the third tier of representative orienteering for juniors. The first tier Read More …

Barnett Demesne WEE – Wednesday 27th June

Last WEE before the summer break is in Barnett’s Demesne. The MOO will be in one of the car parks adjacent to Malone House – see map here. Leg cover – probably a good idea, but less critical than recent weeks. Undergrowth along the Long course isn’t too bad (no waist high nettles like Antrim Hospital…). If you’re aggressive with your short cuts or rusty with your navigation, and have sensitive skin wear, some leg cover. Short course is mostly on paths, so there shouldn’t be any tramping through undergrowth required. The Long course will cross a few roads in Read More …

LVO Tollymore Weekend Entries – Reminder

FRIDAY 22nd JUNE – UPDATE! The organisers have sufficient maps to make entry on the day available for all orienteering events. (Entries closed at midnight on Wednesday 20th June 2018 for the BBQ and camping). Note the Trail-O on Sunday will include the LVO Trail-O Championship.

Tollymore TrailO

The TrailO event on Sunday has been designated as the Club TrailO Championship for 2018.  It will take the form of a PreO course of 9 controls with a mass start at 10:30 and a one hour time limit (so giving you plenty of time to get ready for Bill Simpson’s Score event) .  The “training” beforehand will not involve any practical work but will be a walk-through the conventions of TrailO that make it different from FootO – the sort of things you need to be aware of in the following hour!

Further details for LVO Tollymore Weekend

Some further details are now available here, https://lvo.org.uk/allfixtures/tollymore-weekend-2018/ for LVO’s Tollymore weekend (and the weather is looking fine!). The further details are marked in green.
