No IntrO @ Stormont – from alan gartside

With emphasis on the IOC weekend, there has not been an opportunity to set up an IntrO event alongside SC2 at Stormont.  The next TrailO event, counting towards the Club PreO Champs, will be the Irish TrailO Champs on Sunday 3rd May at Aberdelghy Golf Course.  It provides an excellent opportunity to accumulate big points (21 controls) in one go; you can still get an entry in via the IOC website (preferable) or turn up for entry-on-the-day (if there are sufficient maps left).

Competition Round Up

Juniors from LVO had a great time at the JK2015 in the Lake District in Cumbria over the Easter Weekend. This was a mix of urban racing around Lancaster University on the Fri evening and technical longer races over a mixed terrain of  hills, open moor and forested areas on the Sat and Sun. The relay race took part on the Mon. It was a demanding few days but the weather was great over the weekend and all juniors really enjoyed themselves and did very well given the difficulty of the courses. A big congrats goes to Luke C for Read More …

Stile party

A number of stiles need to be erected on Slieve Croob for the Irish Championship event and a work party will be constructing them next Friday 17 April. We need a number of volunteers to carry materials to the locations of the stiles and to assist with their construction. It should be pointed out that anyone who takes part may have to declare themselves as non-competitive if they are a championship contender. The party will assemble at the Equestrian Centre on the Slievenisky Road at 10.00am.

North Coast Training

A number of our juniors took part in training at Portstewart and Coleraine on the 21 Mar. The day started with training in the sand dunes at Portstewart with a chance to practice contour work in the complex dunes. This was followed by lunch and then some lessons on achieving focus from Philip. Then we headed out again to take part in a number some tricky urban sprint race training around the University of Ulster campus. This was a tricky afternoon with lots of little traps thrown in and the need to pay close attention tot eh control descriptions.

IntrO at Divis

The IntrO activity will be a TempO cluster of 5 kites and 6 decisions, counting towards the TempO Championship.  Don’t worry if you’ve missed the previous events, your performance tomorrow will be used to give you a retrospective score for those.  The TempO viewpoint is right beside the FootO start boxes so you’ve no excuse for not trying, and it’s FREE!
