IntrO at Carnfunnock

The IntrO activity on Sunday will be a 4-control PreO course, counting towards the club’s PreO Championship.  Start and finish will  be at the SW corner of the car park, beside the FootO start.  There are a several things to note: The PreO course runs through the FootO terrain, so PreO must be undertaken after your FootO run (does this make it PostO?). Autumn Trophy 2 – Sunday 18th October – Carnfunnock Country Park

Course details: Green course. 4.9km with 150m climb and 17 controls Orange course. 3.4km with 80m climb and 12 controls Yellow course. 1.8km with 60m climb and 9 controls As regards parking, there is a charge but a reduced one for orienteers. The car parking is right beside the start and finish. Let the man on the gate know that you are orienteering and collect a token from him. Before you leave, take this to the shop, on site, to pay. Training Wed 14 Oct Barnett Demesne

Wednesday evening training continues at Barnett Demesne starting at 6.45pm.  The session will last about an hour.   For beginners there will be coaching on using a compass and map reading and for the more experienced there will be a ‘planning ahead’ exercise.  The light is fading fast now so head-torches are advised, control card holders will be useful and dibbers are not required.  Compasses will be available if you don’t have one.  If you have any questions you can email me on rdonioa’at’btinternet.com

Club Training Wed 5 Oct

Twilight Training (warm up for WENT) will be held on Wednesdays throughout October alongside novice training for newcomers to QUBOC and UU. This week training will be at Barnett Demesne (Malone House car park) from 6.45 to 7.45pm. You will need a head torch for the later part of the session. Hopefully the QUBOC head torches will appear! N Ireland Road Relays: Victoria Park Belfast

Well done the the our juniors Andrew, Peter and Rachel who took part in the N Ireland road relays at Victoria Park. They ran a fast paced race at just over 1600m (roughly a mile) and did very well, finishing one behind the other in the order given above and not that far behind the winner. There were a number of adults from the club at the race as well so well done to those that took part.

This Wednesday night’s training will look at pacing. There will be dibbers available to borrow if you don’t have one. This coaching is for all standards – Philip Baxter will be there to help adult novices and Greg McCann will be there for the more experienced. Start time is 7.00pm. Meet at Malone House car park.
