LVO Champs – Important Info for those Running up a course/class

There are a number of LVO members who would like to and have entered a higher course than what their Age Class corresponds to. For example if you are an M55 and have decided not to run the Blue course but to ‘run up’ on the Brown course you are no longer eligible to compete at M55 and have to decide what age class you do want to compete in, will it be M21, M35, M40, M45, or M50 (seniors are not allowed to enter Junior classes). If you are choosing to ‘run up’ please can you email me at: Read More …

WEE stopโ— If you need to go you won’t have to wait long for more O-pportunities

๐Ÿ™ Well folks that’s it for the Wednesday Evening Events for this year (the control collectors will testify that it is getting a bit dark for evening events now – so on to other things). ๐Ÿ But what a way to finish, in the physically and technically terrain of Belvoir Forest. ๐Ÿ‘ Thank you all those who were involved in putting the event on, especially organiser Mark and first time planner Sophie. (I’m blaming her for the bramble scratches on my upper body, nothing to do with my questionable route choice). ๐Ÿ™ŒA big THANK YOU to all our amazing volunteers Read More …

Score in the Mournes

The Mourne Mountain Marathon has a one day score classย on Saturday 11 September, ideally suited to most orienteers. It’s a 6 hour time limit with a 15km shortest route, which would make for a great day out with a mix of walk and jog. Problem is that entries are in pairs. So how about if anyone interested puts their names forward and then we can suggest pairings – ie matching those of similar speed, but it could also mean linking a novice navigator with some more experienced. Entries close on Fri 3 Sep, so suggest to have names in the hat Read More …

hCOW Tables available

The hCOW tables for WEE10 and 11 are now available. They show the effect of terrain on event times, with the urban scamper of Craigavon producing a fast event (negative event variance) while the more traditional terrain of Stormont had speeds going the other way. The calculations of hCOW are intended to iron out those differences before resetting handicaps. As this week’s event is the last WEE of the season it will be used to find the series hCOW champion (totally unofficial, you understand), that is the person (or persons) who run nearest to handicap (as amended by terrain) on Read More …
