Club Relay Teams

It’s fast approaching the JK in Wales over the Easter weekend, followed by the Irish Orienteering Championships in the Killarney area over the May bank holiday weekend. Hopefully today’s sunshine is a sign of things to come. Susan Lambe & Olivia Baxter are once again co-ordinating club relay team entries. Once again we’re disorganised!! But it’ll all come together, be graaaaannd. The relays are on the Monday of each event, always a fun way for the clubs to finish the weekend. The legs may be tired but the craic is always excellent. Except possibly if there’s snow or horizontal rain………. Read More …

Gosford NICS1

The trees of Gosford have been donning their greenery for St Patrick’s weekend and to welcome you all this coming Saturday. Thanks to all those who have got your entries in so far. Early forecasts suggest the sun will be dappling Armagh’s leaves as you steady your compass along the drumlin ridges, glens and paths in search of that next control. In order to ensure the day goes smoothly, could anyone willing to spend a wee while helping with starts or registration please contact us at entries@lvo.co.uk or volunteer@lvo.org.uk. There hasn’t been too many offers so far and everyone should Read More …

Tables Updated

The Colour Standards table has been updated with the Meelmore results. As Green is the highest standard so far achievable this year no-one has reached a higher standard under “2022 Standard” but the “Current Standard” column shows your present standard , which may have been achieved in 2021. “OneDrive Public/Colour Standards/Colour Standards.pdf” The interim tables for the Spring Cup have also been published. They are based on place points with 2 out of the 3 events to count. An innovation this year (requiring ratification by the Committee) is to allocate points to the event organising team members in a similar Read More …

Marvellous fun on Meelmore

So it was my pleasure to team up with Richard Williamson (Controller) and Stephen Knight (Organiser) to plan Saturday’s courses on Meelmore. Do you know, I really enjoyed myself. It’s a cracking orienteering area. We decided early on to use a small area – turns out this was a good call, as the Trassey River was fair bouncing along on the day, so at least no-one had an early bath. Well, okay, some of you might have – I hear some marshes were verging on the enthusiastic. I can see lots of you have put your adventures onto Routegadget already, Read More …

👕Club Kit Order👕

Are you looking for some nice new O kit? Those of you who were about at Woodburn on Saturday will have noticed a clothes line which had various tops for you to try on for size along with details of kit and an order (expression of interest) form . There was good interest, so it looks like we will be putting our first order in soon. We plan to hang out the clothes, details and order form again, this Saturday at Meelmore and again at Gosford the following week, so have a good look at what you would like. The Read More …

Colour Standards Table Updated

The Colour Standards table has been updated with the Woodburn results. Worth a look, as the criteria for awarding NI Colour Standards is different from that used by SportIdent. The capitalised entries show the results contributing to your current standard; the 2022 standard needs an entry from this year (i.e.Woodburn) so may be different. There were a few folk registered as LVO but records show they are not current members; their standard has been applied as appropriate but may be rescinded later if a membership update is not forthcoming. They can be identified by being highlighted in pink or yellow. Read More …

hCOW2022 is go!

Woodburn sees the first colour event of the year so, in line with last year’s operations, it will be calculated on the results of the Green course. No place points will be awarded – your performance will be used to initiate your handicap (your orienteering speed!) for the remainder of the series, which will be made up of club colour and NISeries using courses of Short Green and above (i.e. technical difficulty 5).

👏LVO Annual Volunteer Awards and AGM👏

Hi LVO friends I can’t believe it has been a year since I was ‘trusted’ to hold the reins as LVO Chair. As always it has been a busy 12 months within the club. There are many moments to celebrate but I am especially proud of the speed and the positive way we have managed to bounce back after all the Covid restrictions. This success is down to your support – thank you for participating in and volunteering your services, helping put on a great club programme. Special thanks to all the event officials and the club committee for their Read More …
