hCALF Tables Updated

The results for Lady Dixon are in, showing a welcome increase in turnout, including 11 recording their frst WEE result of the year. The result table “WEE6LadyDixon.pdf” show a very even spread, giving confidence in the formulae and assumptions being made. The regularity table “hCOW Table.pdf” shows, as suggested last week, that Olivia Baxter, once reaching 4 results, would go to the top of the list. Look farther down the list at those who have 3 results so far and its clear that things could get very close when they reach the 4 results required to count.. The improvement table Read More …

A WEE report on Jordanstown

🌤At last a dry evening welcomed those who took part in the first WEE in the August Series. 🏃‍♀️It was great to see a good number turn up on the day to join those who pre-entered, making for some good competition. 🗺With a few tweaks made to an updated map (thanks Bill) there were a few new control sites to be found and route choices to me made on Sarah’s courses. 😵To confuse you, we even threw in a mystery control (with no description), totally on purpose of course 🤥 This was of course the first of four events in Read More …

hCALF Tables Updated

TheUUJ results are in! A small turnout (presumably the Scottish6Days effect) means the statistics are a bit dodgy; in particular the event variance of +15secs for such a technically easy area (flat, open, with big buildings for guidance) is unexpected. Also unusual was the appearance of 7 first-timers; unfortunately for them UUJ sets their handicap which leaves only 3 events for scoring points and as it’s 4 to count it means they can’t win hCOW (points for regularity) and are unlikely to win Regatta (improvement) as they will have to carry a dns/dnf score into the final count. It’s reassuring Read More …

World Orienteering Championships 2023

Congratulations to LVO’s very own Paul Pruzina with his achievements so far at this years World Championships. Over the last few days Paul has been representing Ireland in the stunning Flims/Laxx area of the Swiss Alps – someone has to I suppose! The Middle Distance Qualifying races took place on Wednesday. These races determine who gets into the final and their starting positions, with the fastest qualifiers starting last in the final.
