After last week’s splash experience in Musgrave Park (27 participants – keep it up) this week we are in Botanic Gardens and the QUB Campus. Meet outside the QUB library (beside the main car park) at 7.00pm for a 7.30 mass start as usual. No SnookerO this week – proper courses to take advantage of the urban terrain, but feet may yet get wet in the park. You should also get a great view of the Ulster Museum poppy cascade – brilliant.
 Looking for something to do on Sunday again? Don’t worry it’s time for another Craigavon outing if you wish, to an area not used in years: Gosford Forest Park. Ok, the map may need a bit of work but I’ve planned the courses so that you can enjoy the conditions underfoot and run free, well mostly. WENT 1 this Wednesday (1 Nov) is ON at Ormeau Park. Meet in the main car park from 7.00pm onwards, ready for a 7.30pm mass start. You will need a head torch and shoes suitable for the somewhat damp park grass surface conditions. We will have SI cards and compasses for those who need them. There will be a free-to-enter TrailO course available at Saturday’s event. This will be for the 2017 Club TrailO Championship so, since no FootO Champs have been scheduled in the fixture list, this is your chance to become THE 2017 Club Champ! The TrailO is to be taken before your FootO run (I don’t want to be collecting controls in the dark!) so come along a little early and have a go – instruction will be available if required. The trail is 925m with 9 controls. Technical details later.

Well that’s the course’s done! The park is in pretty good nick. Only one large tree down. Very little vegetation, and I have access to ALL areas, plus I’ve extended the map a little for more fun along the riverbank. What more can you want on a Sunday afternoon. Courses available: Yellow :Â 2.1km Orange :Â 3.3km ‘Mid’ Green : 4km as the crow flies ( bring your compass for this one ). Nearest toilets at the Castle Courtyard (about 400m) – follow blue and white tapes from Marina. No refreshments available in the Park and no Junior stall so bring your own food and drink. Red and White tapes to Start and Finish (each about 5 minutes walk from Registration) Map/Course Corrections (after maps had been printed) The forest around 2 controls has suffered from wind blow and poor mapping.
