Good Luck to our JK gang

The JK is one of the biggest UK orienteering competitions, always held over the Easter weekend. 4 days of fun. This year it’s in South Wales and there’s a merry wee band heading over from LVO. Relays are on the Monday and we have 4 club teams entered, plus 2 orienteers perched on the reserve bench. On top of that, we have orienteers on Irish Junior Squad teams, and even more running on other club teams. Lots of cheering-on required!! Good luck to everyone running over the weekend 🙂 https://www.thejk.org.uk/

Club Relay Teams

It’s fast approaching the JK in Wales over the Easter weekend, followed by the Irish Orienteering Championships in the Killarney area over the May bank holiday weekend. Hopefully today’s sunshine is a sign of things to come. Susan Lambe & Olivia Baxter are once again co-ordinating club relay team entries. Once again we’re disorganised!! But it’ll all come together, be graaaaannd. The relays are on the Monday of each event, always a fun way for the clubs to finish the weekend. The legs may be tired but the craic is always excellent. Except possibly if there’s snow or horizontal rain………. Read More …

Marvellous fun on Meelmore

So it was my pleasure to team up with Richard Williamson (Controller) and Stephen Knight (Organiser) to plan Saturday’s courses on Meelmore. Do you know, I really enjoyed myself. It’s a cracking orienteering area. We decided early on to use a small area – turns out this was a good call, as the Trassey River was fair bouncing along on the day, so at least no-one had an early bath. Well, okay, some of you might have – I hear some marshes were verging on the enthusiastic. I can see lots of you have put your adventures onto Routegadget already, Read More …

JK 2011 – Ten Year Anniversary

We are going all nostalgic and taking a look back at JK 2011. Yes that is ten years ago….. The largest event ever hosted here, the Jan Kjellstrom International Festival of Orienteering saw over 2,000 orienteers travel to NI for 4 days of the best we have to offer. A huge volunteer effort was led by our very own Harold White as Event Coordinator, along with a sizeable army of officials and helpers. Lots of memories and photos appearing daily over on the NI Orienteering website. Go have a look 🙂 https://www.niorienteering.org.uk/jk-memories-day-1-sprint/

Irish Champs Relays

Hi everyone, Olivia and I are pulling together the IOC relay teams. This is not easy with very complicated sums to be done for the Handicap classes. The good thing is, there are no Team Trials and you can take it as seriously, or not, as you wish. If you’d like a run, please let me (Susan) or Olivia know. Email or pm the Facebook page or post in the group or text or comment here. Go for it 🙂
