Lisburn Urban – Come on Down

Don’t Forget to Enter

The pre-entry closing date for the Urban League event in Lisburn on Sunday afternoon 20 November is on Friday 18 November. Entries are on SI Entries with full detail on the event page on the LVO website. For the last NI Colour Series event of the year at Learmount Wood on Saturday 26 November, the closing date is Sunday 20 November. Entries again at SI entries with full details on the event page on the NWOC website.

WENT goes to Ground

This week’s Wednesday Evening Night Training will be in Lisburn, meeting at the Ground cafe at 7.15pm. All the details you need to know are on the event page. Note particularly that MapRun6 or MapRunG is being used, so especially if you have never used this before do get this set up before you come. Also remember Hi-Viz clothing and a head torch. Under 16s are very welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Don’t Miss Out on Tyrella

Tyrella is one of the best orienteering areas in Northern Ireland and so is convenient for those living around the Belfast and Newcastle areas, so don’t miss out! NWOC invite you to run off the turkey!

Our friends at NWOC traditionally run a post-Christmas event in the Limavady area. This year the venue is Roe Valley Country Park on Monday 27 December. An invitation is extended to LVO, but do check the event details on the NWOC website, as advance entry is required by Christmas Eve on SI Entries.

Still seeking if there is any interest to participate in the Score class at the Mourne Mountain Marathon on 11 Sep. Don’t let the word “marathon” put you off as this is a one day event lasting 6 hours starting at Attical between 09:00 and 10:00 You collect as many or as few controls as you wish. Score in the Mournes

The Mourne Mountain Marathon has a one day score class on Saturday 11 September, ideally suited to most orienteers. It’s a 6 hour time limit with a 15km shortest route, which would make for a great day out with a mix of walk and jog. Problem is that entries are in pairs. So how about if anyone interested puts their names forward and then we can suggest pairings – ie matching those of similar speed, but it could also mean linking a novice navigator with some more experienced.
