WEE Winners and Belvoir report

☀ Fine weather and being the final WEE in June, brought a strong field of runners out last night – about 80 participants (and a fox) enjoyed the challenge of navigating round Belvoir Park Forest and all the craic afterwards. 👏Firstly we need to thank all those involved in putting on the event, especially Fred Hammond who planned some challenging legs for us to talk about for a while and organiser, Mark Earnshaw. Tollymore Weekend Wrap Up

With 3 events and 187 competitive runs is was a busy weekend of Orienteering at LVO’s annual Tollymore Festival of Orienteering. For a second consecutive year, the weekend kicked off in Warrenpoint for the Urban race, which counted in the NI Urban League. This is such a great area for route choice and scenery and local planner, George Savell, made the most of it. A WEE report from Lady Dixon

Hillsborough WEE report

🏃‍♀️It was again great to see about 70 participants travel to Hillsborough and enjoy a stunning evening in this great forest park. 🗺The planner this week was Emma Graham. Mentored by Ric Gamble, this was Emma’s first time planning and she did a fantastic job on a map that needed a lot of updates due to recent windfall. 🏃‍♀️ Great to see another really positive turn out at last night’s WEE. 70 participants both club members and newcomers enjoyed the courses set out for us in and around the Orangefield and Greenville parks. 🗺 The planner this week was James Earnshaw who set two enjoyably challenging courses for us to enjoy. 🏃‍♀️A very healthy 70 participants joined in with the map madness in last nights WEE at Ballyclare. 🗺The planner this week was Lyle Fleming. A WEE report from Antrim Castle Gardens

😮An amazing 150 participants picked up a map and ran around Antrim Castle Grounds in last nights WEE (and that’s not including parents and siblings who came along with the 95 school children). WEE3 Antrim Castle Gardens Parking

For those attending WEE3 at Antrim Castle Gardens, please park in the Castle Mall Car park. Turn off the Dublin Road (A6) onto Castle Way. You will filter off Castle Way and loop round under the road to enter the car park. Allow about 5-10 minutes to get to registration/start. Enter Antrim Castle Gardens by crossing at the pedestrian crossing at the junction between the Dublin Road and Castle Way. Children should be escorted by parents. Follow the signage/tape to the registration/start/finish. Please keep to this route to avoid out of bounds. The route is shown in the map below.

A WEE report – Barnett’s Demesne

☀Another sunny evening welcomed 70 runners to Barnett’s Demesne on Wednesday evening. 🗺Fresh from planning his first WEE last year, Brian Crothers, provided two thoroughly entertaining courses for us to enjoy. ❗LVO Score Champs – Postponed Indefinitely❗

Unfortunately Ards and North Down Borough Council have informed us that Cairn Wood is going to be closed to the public until the end of March. This week there will be heavy machinery brought in to clear the fallen trees and then paths will need repaired. We have therefore had to cancel the LVO Club Score Champs on Saturday 22 March, with the hope to be able to reinstate this event when the forest is fit for use.
