Testing Tollymore – Summery Summary 🌲🌞🌳

With the sun splitting the trees, a beautiful day welcomed us all to the enjoy a great day out at Tollymore Forest Park for our first Autumn Trophy event. It was great to see so many out and especially nice to welcome some new comers. πŸ‘‹

πŸ‘Meadow McCauley had planned some great courses for us all to run controlled by Mark Stephens, who unfortunately was unable to join us on the day. Dan Earnshaw did an amazing job setting everything up and getting people in place to help out, great job for a first time organiser!

πŸ‘Thanks to those who helped out before the event, Alan Gartside for map printing and Sharon Dickenson for Si Entries. And thanks to those who helped on the day in the MOO, starts, control collection and other bits and bobs – Mark Pruzina, Nigel and Barbara Foley-Fisher, Olivia Baxter, Alison and Geoffrey Collins and Henry Montgomery.

🐝Unlike us, there were some grumpy individuals in the forest yesterday – those who visited Control 8 on the Blue course experienced a wasp ‘welcoming’ reception. Although a couple of strings seemed to supercharge me on to a decent run, others were not so fortunate.

πŸš‘I am pleased to hear that all who received first aid are making a good recovery – thank you to all those lovely club members who came to the aid of those in need – Aine, Alison, Carol, Geoffrey, Davy, Susan.

With all the buzzing around yesterday, I may have missed a few lovely volunteers out, if so, Sorry!

I hope you all agree that LVO put on a fantastic programme of events, which couldn’t happen without our fantastic members who volunteer to help out. If you want to find out more about being part of a volunteer team, just chat to someone on the committee or at registration at an event. We can always use a few more hands and there are many small but vital roles which you can help with and still get a run in!

Onto the LVO front runners after Event 1

🟑 Aran Power and Cahal Power are the club leaders but well done also to Jessica Wilson, Sam Lennox, Amy Wilson and Ben Lappin who are not-yet members and also our friends from Fermo, Oonagh and Ellis Reeve.

🟠 Emma Graham (W16) is the front club runner, but well done to Lauren Howe of NWOC and all those not-yet members for coming along and doing so well. After a warm up on the Yellow, it was great to see first-timer Ben Lappin, and his dad, enjoy the more challenging orange course.

🟒 First three LVO Juniors – Sam Graham, James Ewart and Liam Hopkins. First three LVO Ladies – Susan Lambe, Carol Black and Sarah Knight. First three LVO men – Ian Jamison, Nigel Foley-Fisher and Harry Bell.
