Terrain Summary Open Mountain with intricate contours and rock features.
Previous Maps/Routegadget Slieve Croob was last used for the NI Long Distance Championships in March 2024: https://www.lvo.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#527
Course Notes We are grateful to the landowners who were willing to allow us access to their land.

There is a brand-new fence running north-south up the hill and understandably the farmer does not want us to cross it – anyone found crossing it will be DISQUALIFIED! Use gates at all times.

In the interests of maintaining excellent relationships with our land owners and farmers please report any damage to low walls and/or fences at download.

⚪ There is no White course, as it is not appropriate to the open mountain terrain.
🟡 Yellow – 2.2km + 75m climb – along paths with more route choice decisions. Appropriate for newcomers and younger juniors with some experience. Not suitable for buggies.
🟠 Orange – 2.7km + 120m climb – skills needed to navigate away from paths and more route choice decisions, some compass skills are expected. Aimed at novice adults and improving juniors.
🟢 Light Green – 3.3km + 155m climb – this course requires confident map reading and compass skills.
🟢 Short Green – 3.0km + 90m climb – this course is set at the highest technical difficulty but shorter to attract those who may struggle with a longer physical course.
🟢 Green – 4.2km + 140m climb – technically and reasonably physically demanding course.
🔵 Blue – 5.9km + 230m climb – technically and physically demanding course.
🟤 Brown – 7.8km + 290m climb – technical and very physically demanding course.

  • All maps will be A4 and 1:10,000 with 5m contours (TBC).
  • All controls will be SI Air enabled, except Start and Finish which must be punched.

NOTE: This event is also doubling up as the LVO Club Champs. If you wish to be deemed competitive within the Championships you must enter the correct course colour relating to your AgeClass. It will be assumed that you are running your default AgeClass. Participants who choose to ‘run up’ a course or class MUST THEN DECLARE which AgeClass they are competing in by emailing the event organiser no later than midnight on Wednesday 17 June.   Participants can also choose to ‘run down’ and, although they will not be deemed competitive for the Champs, their result will still be counted in the NICS and BOF ranking. See table below:

LVO Club Champs – Course to Class mapping
Male Classes Female Classes
Brown M18, M20, M21, M35 W21, W35

First Aid and Safety There will be a first aid and a qualified first aider available at registration. Registration is also a safe place for lost children to wait.

Please do not come to the event if you are unwell.

Please bring and carry any medication you might need, especially inhalers and EpiPen’s.

If you come across an injured or ill person, please stop, help and get further help. There will likely be qualified first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.

All participants must return to download, whether they complete the course or not. This is to account for all competitors, ensuring everyone’s safe return.

Courses will close and controls collected in at 3pm sharp. If you are still out on the course at this time return to finish and download immediately.
