Wanted: Old Timers and New Timers

With the August WEE Series fast approaching, we need a team of folks to run the goings on in the Mobile Orienteering Office for registration and results. We need both “old-timers” who know how the system works and “new-timers” to sit beside an old-timer and assist. If you have enjoyed the WEE Series so far, this is your way to contribute to the club. Only a basic knowledge of computers is required, so this is a role ideally suitable for juniors. Please complete this Doodle Poll to show which August events you are able to attend and we will slot you Read More …

Colour Standards Updated

The Colour Standards table, updated by the Slievenagore results, can be found under “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Colour Standards”  Congratulations to Marlene Stephens for being the first to achieve a Short Green standard.  Your colour standard is determined by your best 3 results in the last 12 months; these are shown with capital letters.  The yellow highlighting indicates folk who have not rejoined for 2018; their results are retained in order to be used retrospectively should they get their cheque books out toute de suite!  If they have gone on to other things then they will drop off the list as their Read More …

WEE Series Restarts on 1st August at Victoria Park

From Dee Orwin, organiser… WEE Series starts again 01 August in Victoria Park.  Details to follow but all times are standard. As ever, volunteers are requested to help out.  In particular the management of registration and downloads. Anyone who feels they could spare some time for this critical post please get in touch with Dee Orwin at: dobox@hotmail,com. Stephen is sorting out the collection of the MOO and assisting with the course. Dee will help cover first aid and starts. Usual tasks need to be sorted, setting up, starts, collection of controls etc…

Thank you :)

Folks I want to say a massive thank you to all club members who are supporting our satellite hubs, particularly in the past week.   Urban-O Explorers Belfast on Sunday in Victoria Park had a massive turnout of families, over 100 Explorers.  Our biggest ever!  David, Olivia, Daphne, Andrew and Simon (FERMO) ran things from beside an ice cream stall – excellent planning there 🙂 Tollymore Orienteers Summer Series on Monday evenings has grown a Light Green course now.  Add that to the Orange & Yellow already on offer, and you’re spoiled for choice.  “It really was a proper Light Green” someone said!!!!  Read More …

Tollymore TrailO Commentary

A folder has been temporarily created to contain – the TrailO results (already available under “Results”), a solutions map showing the answers with the locations of the 30 kites (and the 2 “Z” locations) and a Planner’s commentary attempting to explain what tests were being set and how they should have been solved.  It can be found under “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Public>LVOTrailOC2018”.  Happy to field any queries from disgruntled TrailOers!

Looking for Hub Help!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some additional help for our hubs!  We have a busy programme, and turns out a good few of our regulars are away, so some extra hands on deck would be great! You don’t need to be a coach, or even have oodles of experience!  The courses are planned.  I’m looking for a couple of people happy to volunteer for an hour or so on the day – registration sheets / chats / encouragement / using dibbers / working the miniprinter.  I was recently told, “It’s actually quite fun isn’t it”.  Yes it is! Next up Read More …
