Final hCALF Tables

With WEE8 at Belvoir the final hCALF tables have been computed for this year. Planner Fred Hamond clearly made life difficult as no-one (that’s no-one!) beat their handicap, so the event variance was a massive 3mins7secs. Did everybody walk round the course? In the hCOW table, which gives low scores to the people who show handicap consistency, it’s Lyle Fleming who led the way with all his points scores being in single figures. He had Carol Black large in his rear view mirror with her wins (i.e. score of zero) in the last 2 events. In the Regatta table, in Read More …

Table Update after Slievenagore

The usual tables have been updated following NISeries4 at Slievenagore last Saturday. The first NISeries class winner of the year is Moire O’Sullivan with a 100-pointer in each of the events of the series (it’s 4 to count out of the 7 colour events of the year). I haven’t highlighted Moire yet for although she can’t be beaten she can be caught by Áine MCann if Áine wins the last 3 events. It also shows how officiating can come into play – Moire didn’t compete at Slievenagore; she got her points by being on the officials team. Since the hCOW Read More …

Tollymore Weekend Wrap Up

With 3 events and 187 competitive runs is was a busy weekend of Orienteering at LVO’s annual Tollymore Festival of Orienteering. For a second consecutive year, the weekend kicked off in Warrenpoint for the Urban race, which counted in the NI Urban League. This is such a great area for route choice and scenery and local planner, George Savell, made the most of it. A hot evening with a few long legs sapped the energy levels before dipping into tricky intricate housing and footpaths. Big thanks to the other event officials Sarah Knight (Organiser) and Greg McCann (Controller) for making Read More …

hCALF Tables Ready

The hCALF tables have been updated with the Lady Dixon results, ready for the final event in the series on Wednesday in Belvoir Forest. Now is the time to decide whether or not you want to go hypersonic, knock spots of your handicap speed and climb the Regatta Table or take it at a steadier pace, keep to your handicap and climb the hCOW Table. The tables can be viewed on the website under “STANDINGS>hCALF 2025”. Now to print the Belvoir maps and that will be followed by the hCOW table update after Slievenagore.
