NICS2 Woodburn Race Report

🐴🏃‍♀️🏉 Sandwiched between Cheltenham and the final day of the six nations, on an exciting St Patrick’s weekend, was our very own great sporting event at Woodburn! There were 73 runs over 9 courses with participants enjoying great conditions, if you like rain, wind and the cold (not the Metoffice forecast I looked at 12 hours earlier!) 🌧🌬❄ Provisional results can be found here. I’ve noticed a few errors with the spelling of a few peoples names, not sure why, sorry. 🌲Although this forest is a favourite venue which we return to regularly, thanks to the clever planning and controlling Read More …

📣3️⃣days before entries close for Woodburn, NI Colour Series 2

❄So, snow says no to tomorrow’s O at Slieve Garron. Whilst our organiser, planner and controller do their best to reschedule this event 👍 here are three ideas you can do to get over your disappointment: 1️⃣ Lie down in your back garden (or even better your neighbours) and make a snow angel 🧚‍♂️ 2️⃣ Sit down at your window with a cup of hot chocolate in your hands and watch some eejit make a snow angel ☕ 3️⃣ Enter the next Orienteering event on the calendar: Woodburn, next Saturday (18 March). 🏃‍♂️ ⏰ Don’t take too long over making Read More …

👍Club Annual General Meeting

The LVO AGM will be held online again this year on Thursday 30 March at 7.30pm. 📑Before we meet, we plan to send out the Financial report (thanks to Harry Bell our Treasurer and Alan Gartside who is doing the auditing of the accounts) and my Chairperson’s report. This will allow you time to reflect and maybe prompt questions. We may also have a report on the great stuff Steph is doing with our Juniors and also from Juls with all the Development work which goes on all year. 🤸‍♀️There has been lots happening the past year to report on. hCOW Tables available

The hCOW tables, following NISeries1 at Pomeroy, are now available at: “Resources>OneDrive Public>hCOW>hCOW2023” The tables comprise “Event1.pdf”, showing the performance against handicap, “hCOW Table.pdf” showing the regularity points gained for running true to your handicap, and “Regatta Table.pdf” showing the points gained by improving on your handicap (all non attendees score 38 points). The fewer points scored the better your placing.

First Table Update of the Year

The Colour Standards table has been updated with the results from NISeries1 at Pomeroy. It can be found at “Resources>OneDrive Public>Colour Standards>Colour Standards.pdf”

Are you ready for hCOW?

With the first colour event of the year coming up on Saturday at Pomeroy, the hCOW2023 spreadsheet has been set up with its 228 columns, ready to receive the results of your endeavours. A list of your starting handicaps has been published as Event0 – it will be subsumed into the Pomeroy results when they are calculated. Note that it also shows, highlighted in red, those who got results in last year’s colour events (and thus got a handicap) but who haven’t yet renewed for 2023 so won’t be able to score points until they do. “Resources>OneDrive Public>hCOW>hCOW2023>Event0.pdf”

The host with the most – British Champs May 23👍

As most of you will know, together we (all three NI orienteering clubs) are hosting the British Sprint and Middle Distance Champs along with the TrailO Champs in early May this year. 🏆The British Champs are blue ribband events in the UK Orienteering competition calendar and will attract hundreds of participants from across the UK and beyond. There are already over 260 entered including elite orienteers from the GB Team. The last time a major event came our way was the JK in 2011, so it’s not everyday we have the chance to run alongside the best in the business, Read More …
