Best wishes to those from LVO who were selected to take part in the Veteran Home International (VHI) this weekend in Northern Ireland (Gortin Glen on Saturday for the individual races and Seskinore on Sunday for relays). The VHI is an annual competition between teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and this year we’re on home soil! Quick reminder to sign up for our next Club Meet on Saturday 12 October at Queen’s Elms BT9, Belfast. Registration closes Tuesday 8th at midnight so we have a chance to print maps and organise groups. Best of luck to all those from LVO who are taking part today in the Junior Inter Regional Championships (JIRCS) today at Mallard’s Pike, courtesy of Bristol Orienteering Club. The JIRCs is an annual competition between the twelve UK Junior Regional Squads. Each region enters a team made up of up to 4 M/W14’s, 16’s and 18’s – a total of 24 athletes. The last TempO cluster of the TrailO Champs series will be staged alongside NISeries7 at Glengarriff Forest on 19th October. I was there today prospecting a suitable site. Although it was drizzling on the journey the sun broke through and the view down the glen was magnificent. Congratulations to all the Lagan Valley Orienteers who took part in the Mourne Mountain Marathon at the weekend, a fantastic excuse to spend a day or two navigating around the amazing Mourne Mountains! The Sun Shines on Lead Mines 🌞 Whitespots Country Park and the adjoining forest around Helen’s tower at Clandeboye, provided a perfect setting for the Autumn Trophy. The asterisks indicate those who have got the requisite two results – the final cluster in the series will be at Glenarriff.
