Some late info from FERMO NICS 5 Castle Archdale Country Park Saturday 21st October 2017 Last minute information Parking at Marina Carpark; NO toilets here. Nearest toilets at the Castle Courtyard (about 400m) – follow blue and white tapes from Marina. No refreshments available in the Park and no Junior stall so bring your own food and drink. Red and White tapes to Start and Finish (each about 5 minutes walk from Registration) Map/Course Corrections (after maps had been printed) The forest around 2 controls has suffered from wind blow and poor mapping. Don’t forget the NI Colour Series Event at beautiful Castle Archdale, Co Fermanagh on the shores of Lough Erne this Saturday 21 October. Full details are on the FermO website. Remember that a Colour Series Event offers all colours so there is something for all abilities from beginning juniors to experienced seniors: White, Yellow, Orange, Long Orange, Light Green, Green, Blue and Brown all on offer. Meet at the Moira M1 Junction 9 (at the lay-by on the Moira side) at 10.00am on Saturday to share lifts.

Beating the Street again this Sunday afternoon 15 October? Meet at Linda’s Kitchen, 26 Woodvale Road, Belfast, BT13 3BS at 2pm. Bring your Beat the Street card or fob and map if you have one, but if not we will have a supply available. Under 16s to be accompanied by an adult please. Lagan Valley Orienteers still holding out in 2nd place, but Belmont Walkers are stealing a march into 3rd place just ahead of Black Mountain PS but both are advancing! Beat the Street goes East again

This Sunday 8 October our Beat the Street Sunday Afternoon Session returns to East Belfast. Bring your map and card or fob if you have them. If not we’ll have a supply and give simple instruction how to play. All ages welcome, especially families. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We are Beating the Street again this Sunday afternoon 1 October. Meet at Wholly Ground Coffee House, 143 Northumberland St, Belfast BT13 2JF. Turn up 13:30 reading for a 13:45 mass start score training; time limit 45 minutes. I first ran in the JIRCs in Sandringham in 2012, where I got very lost in the unfamiliar terrain and head high ferns that had grown up overnight. Beat The Street Sundays continue – this Sunday 24th Sept it’s East Belfast.  We’re meeting at JACK Coffee Bar which is on the ground floor of Eastside Visitor Centre , beside CS Lewis Square on the Newtownards Road (beside box 25).  There is nearby parking at the health centre car park, or at Connswater Shopping Centre. Volunteering Update

Hi everyone, With just 4 LVO events left in 2017 (but lots of other non-event stuff happening, hooray!) it’s time to fill in the blanks on the volunteer roster.  Remaining fixtures are: 14th October – Donard Forest 28th October – Crawfordsburn 11th November – Tyrella 18th November – Carnfunnock You can volunteer for a Key Official role (planner/controller/organiser) or an on-the-day role.  Maybe a nice cosy MOO role now it’s getting autumnal out there???  Email volunteer@lvo.org.uk Full fixture list (including all the non-LVO events too) is here.  Look each individual event on the LVO fixtures list here to check out the roles available.
