WENT 6 Antrim Castle Gardens Wed 6 Dec

A good and mixed crowd enjoyed last week’s WENT in Ormeau Park – thanks to Helen for setting out the controls in my absence. This week we have the privilege of using Antrim Castle Gardens at night. The area is terrific for night orienteering, with a nice mix of parkland, tracks and wooded areas. It is well worth making the effort to get out to Antrim for the evening (it isn’t that far and you won’t need a passport); we’ll meet in the Clotworthy House car park (not the Antrim Forum one) at 7.00pm for the usual mass start at Read More …

Facebook Updates

Exciting times – we’ve gotĀ some Facebook changes today.Ā  Our Group remains, with a name change toĀ LVO Club Discussion Group.Ā  Our Page also remainsĀ – Lagan Valley OrienteersĀ – it’s a greatĀ public face for the club in the world of Facebook. It’ll shortly be cheerio to theĀ WEE Series OrienteeringĀ page (but not the WEE Series itself, very importantly it’s still here!!). Make sure you like ourĀ Lagan Valley OrienteersĀ page to keep up to date šŸ™‚Ā  It’s pretty new so not everyone is on there yet.Ā  We’d love your feedback – I’ll be at the Ormeau WENT tomorrow, send a pm to the team, or give Read More …

WENT 5 Wed 29 Nov Ormeau Park

Congratulations and commiserations to the intrepid 2 dozen who braved the weather last week in Lady Dixon Park. I hope we will be more fortunate this week as we return to Ormeau Park to continue with the SnookerO theme. The controls will not be in the same places as for WENT 1 and the challenge to get round them all may be a bit stiffer than usual. Meet in the main carpark at 7.00pm for a 7.30 mass start. Ā£2 for members, Ā£4 for guests – all are most welcome.

Irish Orienteering Sprint Championships

Just realised – entries for the Irish Orienteering Sprint Championships close this evening. The Championships are in Dublin City University. Link for information and entries isĀ here.

Sunday 26th November – Tannaghmore Gardens, Craigavon Lakes

Our latest Craigavon Community Orienteers’ event. Another newly extended map and in my mind incorporating some of the best bits of the park, previously not included on the old map. I know i’m a little late in posting but the lurgy has had the better of me for most of the week. I’ll be off out into the frosty gardens shortly to finalise the planning under the gorgeous blue skies, but courses on offer will be Yellow, Orange, and Light Green. So if you’re at a lossĀ as to what to do tomorrow and want to get out into the crisp Read More …
