TrailO Champs conclusion

The final episode of the 2024 Club TrailO Champs takes place alongside NISeries6 at Glenariff next Saturday (for which entries close on Monday at 11p.m. – no entry fee for the TrailO). As previously it takes the form of a TempO cluster (6 kites, 6 decisions against the clock, time penalties for wrong decisions). The TempO viewpoint is close to parking, part way to the café/toilets and will be set up for action after your run. A look at the standings will show that, of the 17 folk with the necessary 2 results, Wilbert Hollinger holds a substantial lead over Read More …

TrailO Champs Finale

The last TempO cluster of the TrailO Champs series will be staged alongside NISeries7 at Glengarriff Forest on 19th October. I was there today prospecting a suitable site. Although it was drizzling on the journey the sun broke through and the view down the glen was magnificent. It might be necessary to bring binoculars on the day – there might be a TempO control on the Mull of Kintyre! “Eastern Spur, Upper Part” The current standings can be found on the Club OneDrive. Go “Resources>OneDrive Public>LVOTrailOC2024>Standings.pdf”.

TrailO Results Available

From the home page on the web site go “Resources>OneDrive Public>LVOTrailO2024”. There you will find the solutions map and control descriptions (SolutionsTempO-4.pdf), the results (ResultsTempO-4.pdf) and the current standings in the TrailO Championship (Standings.pdf). The asterisks indicate those who have got the requisite two results – the final cluster in the series will be at Glenarriff. There are a number of one-event folk sitting on a lower average decision time than leader Wilbert Hollinger so all is still to play for. It was a little disappointing that, out of 48 LVO FootOers only 13 had a go at the TempO Read More …

Whitespots Map Supply Issue

Apologies those those who had to provide their maps for re-use yesterday. The yellow toner cartridge needed changing during printing and the replacement proved to be faulty. A nw cartridge is on its way – if anyone wants a paper copy of their map please let me know.

Tables Updated with Whitespots Results

The Colour Standards table (Colour Standards.pdf) can be accessed from the web site with “STANDINGS>Colour Standards”. Not too much activity but, with last year’s Portstewart event dropping out of the 12 month window some folk who were not at Whitespots may have dropped down a level. The hCOW standings can be viewed at “STANDINGS>hCOW>hCOW2024”. The event variance of 1min13secs hints at tough going. The number of asterisks (5 counting results) in the hCOW table is growing, with 2 previous winners at the top of the tree. Note that, although included in the event lists, there has been no word about Read More …

Tables updated with Moydamlaght results

The NI Series tables are published on the NIOA web site, but a copy can be found here. From the web site go “Resources>OneDrive Public>NI Series>NISeries2024.pdf”. Some classes have already been resolved but, don’t forget, with 2 more counting events (Glenarriff and Todd’s Leap) you can still make your mark on the final classification. The colour standards table is available “STANDINGS>Colour Standards>Colour Standards.pdf”. With no events falling out of the 12-month window this was very much a case of consolidating positions. The hCOW tables can be seen at “STANDINGS>hCOW>hCOW2024”. The event table shows a wide but even spread of variances Read More …

TrailO Champs and Whitespots

The next round of the Club TrailO Champs will be held in association with the Autumn Trophy event at Whitespots next Saturday. It will take the form of a TempO cluster of 7 decisions (how’s that for value? And even better, entry is free!). The cluster will be adjacent to the car park so make sure to give yourself a couple of extra minutes before heading off to the FootO start. To be in contention for TrailO Champion you need to have taken on 2 of the 5 clusters – with two to go (Whitespots and Glenarriff) you can still Read More …

hCOW and Whitespots…

The hCOW (i.e. handicap related) tables are updated by results from colour courses of technical difficulty 5. This means that only the Short Blue course results from next week’s Autumn Trophy event at Whitespots will be used for hCOW updating. Don’t forget to have your entry in by Monday evening.

TrailO Champs update

At long last, I’ve got round to defining the method of identifying the Club Champ from the results of the 5 TempO clusters making up the series. It will be necessary to have participated in at least 2 of the 5 (that means that, with 2 to go, no-one is yet eliminated). Your “score” will be your average time per decision, including any time penalties (30secs) for an incorrect decision. The standings can be viewed in the folder “LVOTOC2024” on the public OneDrive (“Resources>OneDrive Public”). The standings show Chris Colwell to be currently in the lead, but there are 14 Read More …

consistent Colin …….

Apologies for the delay in publishing the final hCALF results (they’re there now, click on “hCALF2024” in “STANDINGS”), but holidays and orther domestic matters have kept me away from the spreadheets. In the regularity standings (hCOW Table.pdf) Colin Smith has come out comfortably on top. Although Colin was not the quickest (see the handicap history in Handicap Table.pdf) he kept to his tempo around the Belfast parks. As to the improvers standings (Regatta Table.pdf) it was a close-run result between Olivia Baxter and Sharon Dickenson with a single point between them. Again, the handicap table reveals their improvement record. Now Read More …
