Autumn Trophy Final Results

The Autumn Trophy standings have been calculated following last Saturday’s event at Divis and can be found at “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Club Colour Series”.  Congratulations to all the class winners – that’s the first in each class listing and with an asterisk against their name.  The asterisk indicates that you achieved 2 results so were eligible to be considered for the win.  There are 28 asterisks out of a club of 226 members; how do we get folk to go orienteering?

Performance Tables Updated

The NISeries tables and the Colour Standard table have been updated with the results of the Gortin Glen event last Saturday – thanks FermO (and controller Billy Reed).  They can be found at “Resources>LVO Public Folders>NI Series (or) Colour Standards”.  In the NISeries tables the absence of a club against a name indicates a non-NIOA member (thus scoring no points).  In the Colour Standards table a yellow highlight indicates a 2017 un-renewed member; if they fail to join for 2018 their history will be dropped at the end of the year.

Colour Standards/Autumn Trophy standings

These tables, following the event at Slieve Garron, are to be found in the Public Folders “Colour Standards” and “Club Colour Series” respectively.  With one more AT event (Divis) still to come we have three winners already – congratulations to Cahal Power (yellow junior men), Billy Reed (green senior men) and chairman Stephanie Pruzina (green senior women) – Steph can now plan the Divis courses with a light heart!

NISeries & Colour Standards tables updated

The NISeries tables following the Garvagh event and the Colour Standards table following Kilbroney can be found in their respective Public Folders (the NISeries tables are also available on the NIOA website).

Colour Standards Updated

The Colour Standards table, updated by the Slievenagore results, can be found under “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Colour Standards”  Congratulations to Marlene Stephens for being the first to achieve a Short Green standard.  Your colour standard is determined by your best 3 results in the last 12 months; these are shown with capital letters.  The yellow highlighting indicates folk who have not rejoined for 2018; their results are retained in order to be used retrospectively should they get their cheque books out toute de suite!  If they have gone on to other things then they will drop off the list as their Read More …

Tollymore TrailO Commentary

A folder has been temporarily created to contain – the TrailO results (already available under “Results”), a solutions map showing the answers with the locations of the 30 kites (and the 2 “Z” locations) and a Planner’s commentary attempting to explain what tests were being set and how they should have been solved.  It can be found under “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Public>LVOTrailOC2018”.  Happy to field any queries from disgruntled TrailOers!

TrailO Champs

First check of control cards shows the podium places to be taken by Lyle Fleming, Bill Simpson and Helen Pruzina with scores of 8, 7 and 6 respectively (out of a possible 9).  I shall be at WEE tomorrow evening with a full results list showing each person’s decisions and will be happy to discuss how the control sites were setup.

Tollymore TrailO

The TrailO event on Sunday has been designated as the Club TrailO Championship for 2018.  It will take the form of a PreO course of 9 controls with a mass start at 10:30 and a one hour time limit (so giving you plenty of time to get ready for Bill Simpson’s Score event) .  The “training” beforehand will not involve any practical work but will be a walk-through the conventions of TrailO that make it different from FootO – the sort of things you need to be aware of in the following hour!

Calling all happy campers

For anyone travelling to Tollymore from the north please be aware that the Dundrum to Maghera road (i.e. the route signposted to Tollymore from south of Dundrum) is closed due to roadworks and the diversion is along small country roads.  Anyone with a bulky vehicle (e.g. campervan, MOO or, like me, a caravan) would be advised to travel via Castlewellan.

Roll of Honour 2017

Last year’s Roll of Honour can be found at “Further Info>LVO Public Folders>Roll of Honour”.  Sorry about the delay in getting it published but last year’s injury-induced absence left me with a lot of catching up to do.  If I’ve got any of it wrong or left anything out please let me know, and don’t be shy about your own involvement – this is the only historical record of the club’s achievements and it would be a shame to leave it incomplete.
