Following the final colour event of the year, at Todd’s Leap last Saturday, the year-long competitions have reached their conclusions. The NISeries tables are already available on the NIOA website, but a copy can be found here at “Resources>OneDrive Public>NI Series”. Congratulations to the class winners and a “well-done” to the numerous LVOers who achieved podium places. Of the 14 classes 2 were void due to no-one having the requisite 4 results, but LVOers won 11 of the other 12. How about a clean sweep next year?
The Colour Standards table “STANDINGS>Colour Standards” now shows, in the “2024 Standard” column, what will being going forward to the Colour History table. There will be other end-of-year updates which will be explained in a post closer to the New Year.
And so to hCOW; see “STANDINGS>hCOW>hCOW2024”. The event result “Event8ToddsLeap.pdf” shows massive variances (difference between starting handicap and event speed) at both ends of the list but the result was a smallish event variance i.e. the middle of the list is assumed to have run to handicap. In the hCOW Table there was a little shuffling of places but “Consistent Chris” (Colwell) held his lead to the end to retain his title for another year – congratulations Chris!
While the Handicap Table is not for competition purposes it does show how you got on through the year; it will be used in setting the incoming year’s table by deleting those who failed to record a handicap in 2024 (me included!); they will have to use their first colour event to set a new handicap rather than compete for points. The Regatta Table saw some changes with some close calls but the congratulations go the junior Grahams, with Sam having to give way to Emma. Keep up the good work!
And so to 2025. In the pre-internet days there used to be a knockout handicap competition in the autumn – any interest?
