🌞 LVO Summer Programme 🌞

Hope you are enjoying this fine end to the Spring and start to the Summer.

With it being far too nice for any of that silly indoor gym training nonsense or the hot tarmac of road running make sure you get out and enjoy our Orienteering offer this summer. And don’t keep it a secret, invite friends along, they will love it too!

Here is a summary of what’s on in June!

🌲MESS (Mournes Evening Summer Series) – 3️⃣ Tuesday evening activities in June (13th, 20th and 27th) – there will be maps and technical courses available to support members who wish to do some informal training alongside courses for new and improving orienteers.

🌲WEE (Wednesday Evening Events) – last month was treated as a rest month after the British Champs, but Olivia still managed to do a run a couple of fun pre-wees during May in Ormeau – thank you!

So, hopefully we are rested and ready for the WEE Series which kicks off again on the 7th June at Six Mile Water.

This event, together with Lagan Meadows (14th), Bangor Castle (21st) and Barnett Demense (28th) will form the June Series.

To make things even more exciting the WEE league table is coming back! If you are new to this, allow me to enlighten you a little – it is a handicap system where your actual time is weighted according to your gender and age. This allows young and old, boys, girls men and women to all compete against each other.

🌲LVO Festival of Orienteering – We are at Tollymore again 23rd – 25th June.

On Friday evening there will be an Urban race around Newcastle. On Saturday the Club Championships will be held at Meelmore and on Sunday a Fun Score around Tollymore Forest.

The usual BBQ, boules competition and general craic will be carrying on at the camp site. This is a great weekend of fun which attracts many of our friends from clubs around Ireland, so whether an orienteer or not be sure to book yourself in!
