Rankin & Graham

A week ago LVO club member Greg McCann, together with running partner Jim Patterson, stood at (at 2am!) the start of the Denis Rankin round with the prospect of 24 hours in the mountains ahead of them. They were attempting the “Denis Rankin Round“. I’m delighted to report Greg and Jim finished the round, with time to spare. They thus become the newest members of the Rankin Round club. You can see their route and splits here. Congratulations Greg and Jim.

Meanwhile, in the Lake District Andrew and Alan Elwood were underway with their attempt at the “Bob Graham Round“. Having planned a schedule to complete the round in 23 hours and 30 minutes they were able to keep to their schedule for a good part of the first half until an injury sustained on Skiddaw by Alan started to erode their margin. A tense middle section and some strong support and encouragement from Billy Reed brought them back on schedule. They completed this magnificent achievement comfortably inside the required 24 hours…below the moment of completion back at the Moot Hall in Keswick. Thank-you to all who helped with both attempts and for helping Andrew raise over £2,000 for the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Happiness – Greg finishes the Denis Rankin round…
