Event Description
Barnett Demesne must be one of Lagan Valley’s best known orienteering areas. Lots of open ground for sports facilities, this park features the famous Mary Peters Track , Queens University playing fields, a parkrun course, mountain bike trails and cycle tracks and the towpath attracts lots of walkers and dogwalkers.
Parking at Malone House will be most convenient for Starts. However if this carpark is full and the spaces along the exit road have all been filled, it is possible to use the carpark at the top of Dub Lane. Enter via Queens Playing Fields site 1st left off Upper Malone Road after Malone roundabout then continue past pavilion to Dub carpark. Walk up rest of Dub Lane to Barnett’s and continue south towards Malone House.
Courses have been planned to avoid the cycle tracks. But if your route choice includes a cycle track, please be prepared to move out of the way quickly if a cyclist comes along. Obey No Entry for Walkers signs. Having said that, enjoy your run.
