šŸ–LVO are hosting the NI Sprint Championships with NWOC hosting the NI Middle Distance Championships later that day. Any one can take part, but to be eligible for a NIOA prize you need to be a current member.

There will be an intermission between the two events.

Course Notes If you wish to run competitively in the NI Championship you must:

  • be a current member of a NI Orienteering club,
  • run unaccompanied
  • enter the course relating to your age class or “run-up”
    • … You cannot change class after entries close and still qualify for NI Champs

Note that anyone who has not passed their 16th birthday on the day of the event must enter a junior class. Note that the M/W16- course has a map flip.

Despite the “Championship” title, sprint orienteering is by definition at maximum Technical Difficulty 3 (Orange standard), with 12s and under at TD2 (Yellow). Therefore novices should still be able to sucessfully complete the course appropriate for their age class.

The NI Sprint Championships has the following classes:

M Open Course 1 – 2.8km
M Vet 40+ W Open Course 2 – 2.7km
M Super Vet 55+ W Super Vet 40+ Course 3 – 2.5km
M Ultra Vet 65+,Ā  M Hyper Vet 75+ W Super Vet,Ā  W Ultra Vet 65+,Ā  W Hyper Vet 75+ Course 4 – 2.3km
M Junior 16- W Junior 16- Course 5 – 2.2km with map flip
M Junior 12- W Junior 12- Course 6 – 1.2
First Aid and Safety There will be a first aid and a qualified first aider available at registration. Registration is also a safe place for lost children to wait.

Please do not come to the event if you are unwell.

Please bring and carry any medication you might need, especially inhalers and EpiPen’s.

If you come across an injured or ill person, please stop, help and get further help. There will likely be qualified first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.

All participants must return to download, whether they complete the course or not. This is to account for all competitors, ensuring everyone’s safe return.

Courses will close and controls collected in at 2pm sharp. If you are still out on the course at this time return to finish and download immediately.

Kit requirements Shorts and running vests are permitted for this race. Shoes with spikes and metal dobs are not allowed.
