Event Description
The club Score Championship is to be held at Belfast Castle and the lower slopes of Cavehill.
Course Info
It will be a 45min course, and there will be a separate course for Juniors – Under 16s (M/W 10, 12 and 14) will have a reduced map.
Score events do not have a fixed course but a fixed time to collect as many controls as you possibly can, choosing your own route within the time limit.
There is a ‘mass’ start – everyone starts at the same time and so, in theory, should all finish together 45 minutes later – so it is a fun, social event. The start will still be a punch start, and there will be a punch finish.
Start briefing will be at 1:50pm at the start.
Car park will be next to the Adventurous Playground (beyond the Castle), with the start nearby up the hill.
Clothing
If the weather is poor it may be mandatory to wear a rain proof jacket.
All the usual recommended kit – full body cover, whistle, compass, plus a watch to keep an eye on your timing. Every minute (or part of a minute) late will have a 10 point deduction.
Shoes with good grip are recommended due to the steep slippery slopes and leaf accumulations.
Competitive or Non-Competitive?
Everyone is welcome to attend including non-members and newcomers. Newcomers please say hello to someone at registration, there will be someone at hand to talk you though things and give advice.
You can go round as a pair/group but to be classified as competitive you need to run individually. You also need to be a current member of LVO. This is the first competitive event of the year, so members, make sure you have renewed your membership.
Entries and cost
Members: Senior £8, Junior £4, Max charge for family (2 adults + n children, each with own map) £20.
Non-members: Senior £10, Junior £5, Max charge for family (2 adults + n children, each with own map) £25.
Families or groups wishing to go round together sharing a single map will only be charged for one entry. e.g. two junior members running round together = £4. A family of two adults and a child (non-members) = £10.
Cost includes map and SI dibber (electronic timing) hire. Note: lost dibbers are charged at replacement cost £30.

Dogs allowed
There will be plenty of other users around, including mountain bikers. We will advertise that there are ‘runners’ around, but please be careful, especially on the inclines and smaller paths.
