Venue 📍Tollymore National Outdoor Centre
Event Format Want your kids to be more active, more confident, and find friends to run about with in forests and up mountains? Would like to learn a new outdoor sport that all the family can take part in?

Taking place on the last Sunday of the month, LVO invites you to Running Wild, a chance for like-minded families to learn about orienteering together and find out about how to get involved in our exciting club and sport.

Sessions are for children in Primary 4 and above. If children are younger, please get in contact with us (email chair@lvo.org.uk) to find out other exciting orienteering opportunities for them.

All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the coaching, up to a maximum of four children per adult. This is not a drop-off service! Separate adult coaching is possible, depending on demand.

Entry/Registration Register via this online form.
Registration closes Midnight, Tuesday 22 October 2024
Start Times Arrive 10.45am for registration. Coaching takes place 11am to 12am, with a chance to catch up with coaches and friends over tea/coffee/squash until 12.30pm.
Price 💰 Training is free for members of LVO, NIOA and Orienteering Ireland.

💰 Non-members are also welcome to attend any of our activities and events, but there is a £3 fee per child for this activity, up to a max of £10 per family. After attending three orienteering events, people must join a club so they are insured.  From 1 September 2024, new members pay only £4 for juniors (up to 20 years old), £8 for young adults (up to £25), £10 for seniors and £20 for families (2 seniors + 1 or more juniors). Find out more here. From 1 November onwards, you can join for 2025 membership and get two months for free.

Terrain Summary Tollymore forest is a great place to discover the sport of orienteering. It has a network of paths and tracks to help navigate, as well as runnable forest with a variety of features. The forest is popular with hikers, runners, dog walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers, so take care and treat others with courtesy.

  1. Hello

We are active adults interested in finding out if orienteering is for us. Could you please let us know if you plan to hold any adult coaching events?

    Thanks very much
    Richard and Stella

    1. Hi Richard and Stella,

Thanks for getting in touch! The best way to find out if orienteering is for you is to go to an event. The next one up is in Glenariff Forest on Saturday 19 October. Full details can be found here: https://lvo.org.uk/allfixtures/ni-colour-series-6-glenariff-forest-park/ . Entries close this coming Monday. If you are new, a yellow or orange course would have the easiest navigation.

If you’re interested in adult coaching, you can come to one of our monthly Club Meets. The next one will be Tyrella on 9 November. Registration will be open soon: https://lvo.org.uk/allfixtures/club-meet-nov-24-tyrella/

Hope that helps – will be great to see you out orienteering soon!
