Event Description
Orchard County Orienteers welcome you along to the first of four great Summer Series Orienteering activities at Gosford Forest.
Sunday 9 Aug, Starts from 2.00-4.00pm. Courses will close at 5pm.
Cost is £3 per map, which you will get at the start and can keep. You will also get the loan of a ‘dibber’ / timing chip and a compass if necessary.
Wear comfortable clothes and footwear. Hopefully it will be warm and dry but if there are showers in the forecast, please bring a light waterproof jacket.
Your place, your pace – Whether you want to run round individually or explore as a pair or in a group is entirely up to you. There will be courses available for all ages and stages.
First timers are very welcome – there will be instructions on what to do and easier courses to help you explore the forest park. Beginner families and younger (Primary School age) children should probably choose the Yellow course which stays close to paths.
For Improvers with some navigation experience with a map and compass, why not try the Orange Course, which is a bit longer and gets you off the beaten track.
Those more experienced can try out the Light Green Course. This course will take you into the forest and off paths where the use of a compass is necessary.
