📣Club Meets – a way to improve your orienteering skills in a social way without the pressure of competition.
📆 Taking place every 2nd Saturday of the month (except July, August and December), club coaches will put on sessions for orienteers, no matter your age or level. Everyone is welcome!
📍 This month we will meet at Meelmore Lodge and and out into the nearby hillside.
👨👩👧👦 Groups will be organised into people with the same level of technical ability, each having a dedicated coach.
⚪🟡TD 1&2 (White & Yellow) Easy courses with all controls mostly on linear features such as paths, walls and streams. Suitable for primary school children and adult newcomers who want a gentle introduction to orienteering.
🟠TD 3 (Orange) Courses use basic use of a compass and route choice. Ideal for novice orienteers or young juniors with experience.
🟢🔵🟤TD4&5 (Lt Green & above) Challenging navigation with route choice and using more contour and point features suitable for experienced juniors and adults.
💰 FREE! What’s more, it’s free for LVO club members. All NIOA members are welcome to attend.
Non-members are also welcome to attend any of our activities and events. It will be free for Juniors at TD2 but there will be a cost of £3 for TD3,4 and 5 coaching to cover costs.
Why not join up and get these sessions for free as well as reduced prices for events and many other benefits!
⏰ Assembly and briefing at 10.30am sharp. Arrive by 10.15am so everyone is ready to go at 10.30am. Coaching sessions will end at 12.30. Afterwards why not head into the café for a cuppa or some hot food or enjoy sitting and chatting over a packed lunch in the benches outside.
🏃♀️Full body cover is mandatory. If the weather is cold or wet – a waterproof jacket will be mandatory. As well as times of exercise there will be periods of coaching when you will be stationary, so layer up – bring along a hat and gloves to keep comfortable. There is likely to be a bag drop off point with a coach present or close by. NOTE: the club or coach is not responsible for the safe keeping of the kit, it is dropped off at your own risk, so please leave any valuables in the car.
Juniors should carry a whistle. Bring a compass if you use and have one, some base plate and thumb compasses will be available to borrow and try out.
Dibbers are not required.
