Event Description

📣Club Meets – a way to improve your orienteering skills in a social way without the pressure of competition.
📆 Taking place every 2nd Saturday of the month (except July, August and December), club coaches will put on sessions for orienteers, no matter your age or level. Everyone is welcome!
Groups will be organised into people with the same level of technical ability, each having a dedicated coach.
⚪🟡TD 1&2 (White & Yellow) Easy courses with all controls mostly on linear features such as paths, walls and streams. Suitable for primary school children and adult newcomers who want a gentle introduction to orienteering.
🟠TD 3 (Orange) Courses use basic use of a compass and route choice. Ideal for novice orienteers or young juniors with experience.

🟢🔵🟤TD4&5 (Lt Green & above) Challenging navigation with route choice and using more contour and point features suitable for experienced juniors and adults.

💬For example, at the first club meet in November 2023, TD1&2 worked on identifying line features and junctions; TD3 had compass exercises and practiced aiming off in pairs; while TD4&5 worked on relocation and map simplification. Some feedback from our first Club Meet in Nov 2023:

“Great coaching in a friendly environment for a newbie like me.”
Learnt loads! Really good explanation from coaches, broke it down so it was easy to understand.”
“Good to meet other folk, chat and learn from them.”
“Loved it, will be back.”
💰 FREE! What’s more, it’s free for LVO club members. All NIOA members are welcome to attend. Non-members are also welcome but after three sessions will be expected to join a club.
⏰ Meet-up time is 10.30am for 11am start, with coaching taking place until 12.30pm. All venues will be confirmed closer to the time.
From 12.30pm-2pm we’re invited to bring along a packed lunch and socialise afterwards. Facilities to make tea/coffee will be provided.
🏃‍♀️Full body cover is mandatory. Juniors should carry a whistle. Bring a compass if you use and have one. Dibbers are not required. If the weather is cold or wet – a waterproof jacket will be mandatory. As well as times of exercise there will be periods of coaching when you will be stationary, so layer up – bring along a hat and gloves to keep comfortable. There is likely to be a bag drop off point with a coach present or close by. NOTE: the club or coach is not responsible for the safe keeping of the kit, it is dropped off at your own risk, so please leave any valuables in the car.

  1. I am Shuk. I’m stillin Trooperslane Station calling the uber for more than 20min. May anyone nearby can take me to Woodburn Forrest?

  2. Hi,
Is that I have successfully registered the course training tomorrow? I registered on Tuesday since I found the deadline shown in the Google form was midnight Tuesday 9 January.
Also, if there is no car pooling suitable for me, I can take the train & bicycle to the venue.
    Can anyone reply me?
    Thanks!
