Five Days in the Lakes

Imagine the NI Colour Series wrapped into a single week but with 2,000-4,000 competitors and you get an idea of what it’s like to attend one of the big summer orienteering festivals in the UK. In odd numbered years Scotland hosts the “Scottish Six Days” and even numbered years alternate between Wales hosting “Creoso” and the Lake District hosting the “Lakes 5 Days”. LVO Championship + changes to event schedule, announced 13-Aug-2018

The following changes, announced 13-Aug-2018, have been made to event schedules. The forthcoming NIOA Colour Series at Garvagh on Sat 25th Aug will double as the LVO Club Championship (this replaces the tentative club championship date of 24th Nov). The Autumn Trophy at Rostrevor has been moved from Sat 8th to Sun 9th September.

Orchard County present : Armagh Middle Distance Urban

Connswater Community Greenway Celebrations

Our satellite hub, Urban-O Explorers Belfast, are delighted to be at Orangefield Park this Sunday, 1pm-4pm.  We’re offering short orienteering loops, family-friendly & perfect for beginners to try out our wonderful sport.  This is all part of the Greenway Celebrations. There are so many activities going on in the park, it’s sure to be a fun afternoon out.  Bring the kids, the grandkids, the neighbours……and your sense of adventure! New O Tops Have Arrived

Good news for all those eagerly awaiting their new orienteering finery. The latest order has arrived and tops will be available for collection at the August WEE series, starting tomorrow at Victoria Park. Please see Philip, Helen or Olivia armed with either cash or cheques made out to Philip Baxter. The cost worked out after euro conversion and postage to £28 per top (child size £23 and top with pocket £30) so no increase since the last order.

WEE 10 Victoria Park, 1st August

From Dee Orwin, WEE 10 organiser…welcome back to the WEE series! WEE is back on 1st August at Victoria Park, Belfast. Registration from 18:30, starts from 18:45. Parking is in the park via the underpass. Come back out via the underpass for registration…give way to vehicles, children will need accompanied. Starts are near the bridge over the lake in the park. Wanted: Old Timers and New Timers

With the August WEE Series fast approaching, we need a team of folks to run the goings on in the Mobile Orienteering Office for registration and results. We need both “old-timers” who know how the system works and “new-timers” to sit beside an old-timer and assist. If you have enjoyed the WEE Series so far, this is your way to contribute to the club. Only a basic knowledge of computers is required, so this is a role ideally suitable for juniors. The Colour Standards table, updated by the Slievenagore results, can be found under “Resources>LVO Public Folders>Colour Standards”  Congratulations to Marlene Stephens for being the first to achieve a Short Green standard.  Your colour standard is determined by your best 3 results in the last 12 months; these are shown with capital letters.  The yellow highlighting indicates folk who have not rejoined for 2018; their results are retained in order to be used retrospectively should they get their cheque books out toute de suite!  If they have gone on to other things then they will drop off the list as their Read More …
