Table Update (2) from Gosford

The hCOW calculations have now been completed. You can find the tables by going to “STANDINGS” on the website, then click on “hCow” and select “hCOW2023”. As predicted the event results see a large proportion of the Light Green competitors clustered at the top of the event result (Event10Gosford.pdf) with Philip Baxter putting in a mammoth 7mins54secs/km beating of his handicap. Membership Structure and Fees for 2024

Yesterday evening an Exceptional General Meeting was held for all NI club members to consider the proposal to amend the membership structure and fees. This came about as a result of changes agreed by the British Orienteering membership at a recent AGM. The Autumn Trophy and Colour Standards tables have been updated with the Gosford results; go to the “STANDINGS” heading on the website and click on the “Autumn Trophy” or “Colour Standards” links. Congratulations to the AT winners; while there may be folk with lower scores in somes classes they won’t have the asterisk against their entry signifying that they didn’t score in each event. hCOW Calculation for Gosford

As with the Autumn Trophy calculations, the hCOW calculations for Gosford will use the Light Green results as the second course. Provide the fitness is there, the reduced technical difficulty should lead to improved handicaps and therefore better Regatta Table standings but don’t despair, the following week at the Burren should provide the perfect antidote!

Exceptional JHI Performance

We had a very small representation from LVO on the JHI squad this yearbut we are exceptionally proud of first-year M14, James Ewart who had asuperb run on the individual day to finish 2nd overall, and win the awardfor Best Irish Performance of the weekend. Some statistician with time tospare can fact-check for me but I don’t think we have had as high aplacing before. With James’ energy and dedication  to the sport we canlook forward to seeing him develop and wish him many more successes in thefuture. Stephanie P
