Lisburn Urban Race – CANCELLED

I’ve been thinking long and hard about this and its not a decision that fills me with glee, but as it stands with only 6 days to go to the event I have only had one offer of help. As we’ve said before, our sport is run for us, by us, and as a result if no-one volunteers then there can be no event. Most of the tasks are relatively simple and guidance will always be at hand if you’ve never volunteered before. You will always get a run if you want one, and if you’re going to go to Read More …

Wednesday Training event

Unfortunately I am going to have to postpone the training event planned for this Wednesday In Crawfordsburn. (It also means I will have to think up a different Valentines day treat for Mrs Lennox! How do I top ‘control collecting followed by a bun in the café in Crawfordsburn?!’) It will now run next Wednesday (21st) instead in the same place. Sorry!

Huge effort from volunteers

To all of you who helped at the NIOA Score and Night Champs yesterday, a huge thank you for all your efforts. One of the major threats to the existence of the club is getting enough volunteers signed up early enough that we can run the programme of events that you all enjoy. Running two events in one day was a real challenge, but the membership responded brilliantly. Thanks to our friends in NWOC and FERMO for coming along to support the events and giving us a bit of your craic. For the events, the only blip I’m aware of Read More …

Sunday’s Physical Training Session Drumgor, Craigavon

Orienteering Interval Sessions – or very, very, very short course orienteering round the Drumgor Estate. Better keep your wits about you as well as this will be more than physical exercise. Start time 11.30 One hours exercise followed by drinks and calories ( you have to replace the energy right? ) We’ll meet at the car park in the middle of the estate on Drumgor Heights ( by the shops and Primary School ). See you on Sunday for a little bit of fun.

Physical Training Session – Sunday 11th Feb, Drumgor, Craigavon

Any more spring lambs? I only have a very small but distinguished group so far. As you may know, several members of LVO are currently in the middle of a coaching assessment and as part of this we need to put on a Physical Training Session. So i’m looking for a few sacrificial lambs, sorry volunteers, who will still have some energy left after the NIOA Score and Night Champs to take part in an exercise I have devised around Drumgor on the Sunday morning. Don’t worry, i’m not looking to kill you and it will be entirely up to you Read More …

Trophies Galore at NI Score & Night Champs

The NI Orienteering keeper-of-the-trophies (that’s Ann Savage) would like to remind everyone that the prize giving for the 2017 season is nearly here! The prize giving, that will take place between the NI Score & Night Championships, will include not only the hot-off-the-press NI Score Championships, but also the 2017 Individual & Colour Series prizes.  It’s scheduled for 16:30, and that’s on Saturday 10th Feb. Clear plenty of space in your car boot for all the silverware!

Club score at Belfast Castle

Hope you all enjoyed the score at Belfast Castle today. Hopefully everyone took something away from the event. Getting back within the time is improving but I was surprised that so many headed north at the start. The southern route had, I felt, easier navigation and a more obvious route. I always look for a line course within the points. Another chance to get it right next Saturday! A very big thanks to all those who helped today especially to Harry and Shaun who assisted with registration and recording and Cara, Sam, Sharon, Ben and Geoffrey who collected controls. Volunteering – please read

Evening folks, It’s quiet on the volunteering front.  Too quiet.  We have so much great orienteering coming up!  Folks this takes volunteers.  If we all do a bit, whatever role you’d like to try, it’ll happen.  If not………….well then events can’t happen.  Simple as. Some feedback I’ve had is “no-one has asked me to help”.  Don’t worry, you can fire on ahead and volunteer without being asked!  What’s more, it’s so much more fun when that happens. The current roster is in the photos (EDIT – no it’s not – it went blurry!), on each fixture, and on Facebook (LVO Club Discussion Read More …
