🏃➡️🏃♀️➡️Last night in Barnett’s Demesne saw 33 orienteers, ranging from very experienced to first timers at night.
🕺💃 Participants enjoyed the very first edition of ‘ Strictly Orienteering’ on a clear, warm evening. The theme this week was waltzing, so collecting controls in a 1,2,3 sequence while having to select which of the 1s, 2s and 3s to string together. 👏A couple of the very experienced runners managed to complete all 5 sequences (although taking a minute or so more than the 45 minute time limit) and every one attending managed to collect more than 2, so well done to all.
👍Coach and Strictly host, Philip says, ‘Thank you all who came – your support makes preparing the evening all the more enjoyable – and thank you to the control collectors at the end’.
Thank you Philip for you ideas, efforts and enthisiasm!
Next week ….
WENT#2 Connswater entries open!
🏙️We will be moving from the ballroom of Barnett’s to the street’s on East Belfast.
This will be more of a sprint down the streets, than a waltz in the woods.
🗺️Great Urban training, focusing on route choice, planning ahead and clean execution.
⏱️Working against the clock – you will have 45min to find up to 30 controls, worth 10, 20 or 30 points. But the time limit is too tight to get them all, so which ones will you leave out?
🤳Download the MapRun app onto your phone or Garmin/Apple watch beforehand.
