Picked Your Colour Yet?

With the colour event season about to get under way you should, by now, have decided which colour you’re going to target, whether for Colour Series points or for Standards achievement. To help with the latter the Colour Standards table has been reset for 2026. The 2024 results have been removed (they are now outside the 12-month window in which your best 3 results contribute), the “current standard” column is based on that window, the “2026 standard” column will start to fill as results come in and early 2025 results drop out (it replaces the 2025 standard which is now included in the colour history table).

The table also has several other uses; it is a membership list and the highlighting of your name signifies your membership status. Green shows a new member in 2026 – you’re very, very welcome; if white you’ve paid your 2026 fees – well done; if red you haven’t paid your fees – what’s keeping you?; if yellow you’ve missed 2 years – everyone have a look and see if there are aquaintenances that could be open to returning to our wonderful sport and club.

Finally the table contains a fixtures list at its head. Whilst the dates are (almost) set there is some doubt about the venues. Apart from Ballykelly (NI2) the NWOC and FermO venues have yet to be announced; as for the LVO entries there are some clashes depending on which fixtures schedule you look at (NIOA fixtures, LVO fixtures, LVO volunteers list). NI4 (the Tollymore weekend) will be either at Slieve Croob or Drumkeeragh; NI6 could be alongside the Senior Home International and NI Champs at Meelmore on 3rd October (I can’t see how that could be arranged) or as an Urban Event on 24th October in either Portadown or East Belfast. So keep watching the fixtures list and have a great year’s orienteering.
