On Saturday 9th August, Lagan Valley Orienteers is hosting The Original Mourne Seven Sevens Challenge Walk and Race – our biggest fundraiser of the year.
As you may know, the Seven Sevens is no ordinary challenge – it’s an 18-mile trek across all seven Mourne peaks over 700 metres, with over 2,500 metres of climbing. Alongside the walkers, we team up with BARF to host the 7x7s Mountain Race, a highlight of the NI Mountain Running Championships.
It’s a fantastic day out with a buzzing atmosphere, and we’d love you to be part of it. But here’s the reality: we can’t do it without volunteers. We’re looking for LVO members and friends to help in a wide range of roles – there’s something for everyone! You could be:
- Marshalling at mountain cols
- Helping out at the Ben Crom Dam checkpoint
- Assisting at the start/finish base
- Serving soup and sandwiches to tired finishers
Whether you’re up for a mountain post or prefer staying closer to base in Newcastle, your help will make a big difference. Right now, we’re especially short of marshals at key cols and helpers at the start (early morning start!) If you’re free and can lend a hand even for part of the day, and you haven’t volunteered already, please contact Gordon via WhatsApp at 07803 055247.
Come be part of this iconic day – enjoy the buzz, support your club, and help keep LVO strong.
Thank you in advance!
