A huge congratulations to LVO’s James Ewart for being only one of twenty-four athletes who have been selected to go to the JROS Lagganlia training camp this coming August 2024. The camp is for M/W14s through the UK who show considerable orienteering talent and who have met the required high standards at selection races.
The camps develop all aspects of their orienteering skills; technical, physical, tactical and mental. The camps also have a strong social aspect, meaning that some of these orienteers will become lifelong friends.
James has excelled in recent years at the JK, Irish Orienteering Championships (IOC) and at last year’s Junior Home International (JHI) where he placed 2nd in the individual race and was awarded the Irish squad’s Perpetual Trophy for the best Individual Performance the year.
Some of our finest athletes, including Mark Stephens and Áine McCann, are also graduates of Lagganlia. The last LVO member to attend was Andrew Elwood back in 2015 who wrote a fantastic report of his time there.
We wish James all the best at the camp and we look forward to seeing him growing in speed and skill in the coming years.
