NICS2 Woodburn Race Report

πŸ΄πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‰ Sandwiched between Cheltenham and the final day of the six nations, on an exciting St Patrick’s weekend, was our very own great sporting event at Woodburn!

There were 73 runs over 9 courses with participants enjoying great conditions, if you like rain, wind and the cold (not the Metoffice forecast I looked at 12 hours earlier!) πŸŒ§πŸŒ¬β„

Provisional results can be found here. I’ve noticed a few errors with the spelling of a few peoples names, not sure why, sorry.

🌲Although this forest is a favourite venue which we return to regularly, thanks to the clever planning and controlling of Lyle Fleming and Richard Vasey, it never ceases to surprise me that we can be taken into new areas and explore places we haven’t been to before. The courses had a middle distance feel about them, with little to no dead running – difficult to achieve with large sections of the map not able to be used including the reservoir. Well done and thank you gents! πŸ‘

Here are some others who were involved in making this event a real success:

Richard McCourt and Woodburn Presbyterian Church for sorting parking and toilets. Those brave starters (I hope you have dried off and warmed up by now) – Harry Bell, Joe McClure, Paul Daniels, what amazing job you did even when the waterproof clipboards were breached. Gordon Stephens who brought the MOO and helped me set up registration. Those who helped with the computers (registration and downloads), Colin Smith and Richard Hetherington. Control collectors and tidyupers Chris Colwell, Aine McCann, Aileen McCarron, Gillian Wasson, Daniel Vasey and Matthew Vasey. Henry Montgomery for returning MOO to storage. Thank you! πŸ‘ Sorry if I missed out any others who stepped in and leant a hand (the likes of Mark Pruzina who can’t resist a trip into the MOO).
