A nice wee end to the WEEs

Yesterday evening saw the last event of our WEE Series 😢 but don’t worry there is plenty planned for the Autumn 😁 More details below.

👏Thanks to all those who supported through participation and volunteering throughout the month of August. A big thank you to this weeks novice planner, James Earnshaw who was supported on the night by his younger brother Dan on the IT side of things, Brendy, Jane who has coordinated the whole month, Heather and Gavin for the hotdogs and those who helped with control collection. It really is a team effort!

About 50 of us explored parts of Belvoir we have never visited before and maybe never wish to again 😉

🏆Here are the winners of the August series (not counting those who had already been awarded prizes for May and June):

👏Long Course: 1st Man Keith Dawson (67 points), 2nd Paul Daniels (60) and 3rd Kenny Weir (41). 1st Woman Carrie Stewart (65 points), 2nd Rachael Church (57) and 3rd Helen Baxter (56). 1st Junior Luke Gardiner (38 points).

👏Short Course: 1st Junior Harry Watt (54 points), 2nd Sam Lennox (51) and 3rd Marcus Richardson (40). 1st Man Liam Mangan and 1st Woman René Mullin.

I tried to do the sums on the night using the live results coming in but I did double check things this evening. After a recount, I missed out Kenny Weir, sorry Kenny. I think Kenny deserves a special mention as he is one of only a few people who have attended all 12 WEEs this summer. Well done all those of you who managed this, amazing stuff! 👏

What’s coming up to get excited about!

🏡🏪Mon 29 August – Portadown urban event (part of NI Urban League). Those on the long course last night got a little taste of Urban Orienteering. Why not come along and try a full urban event out.

🏡🏪Sun 11 September – East Belfast Urban League.

🏖🏞Sat 24 September – Tyrella (NI Colour Series 5). The beauty (and challenge) of the sand dunes with views of Dundrum Bay and the Mournes, 8 courses to chose from within the confines of the army training area – truly an opportunity not to be missed. We will also be welcoming Juniors from all over the UK as part of the Junior Interregional Champs (JIRCs).

So lots of fun to be had exploring lots of very different areas over the next few months – get them in your diary and look out for info on the fixture page and entries opening online.
