🎉😁ORIENTEERING ACTIVITY IS BACK!🎉😁

I’m sure some of you are ready to get back out there and do some actual, real life orienteering!

With the relaxation of lock-down restrictions this is now possible.

This weekend LVO, Fermo and NWOC are re-starting orienteering with activities across the country, with the premiere of MapRunF.

We are having to temporarily replace physical controls with virtual ones using a new app called MapRunF (which you need to download onto your phone beforehand). Those of you who have done Sporteering before will have a good idea how this works, but MapRunF is simpler to use and has an even better user experience. After clicking Start – you can just put your phone in your pocket run off and not worry about it until after you finish – it automatically punches for you!

The idea is to have these MapRun courses, (sometimes called Virtual Orienteering Courses or VOCs) available to run at any time for you to train at your convenience.

This weekend, however, all the clubs are planning introductory activities for groups of 9 (10 if you include the organiser – to adhere to the present Covid restrictions).

The organiser will be in place to provide brief and simple instruction on the MapRunF app and provide a map.

So here is what is on offer!

Sat 27 June: 10.30am: Limavady Score

Sat 27 June 11am: Ballymena Score

Sat 27 June 1pm: Lisburn Score

Sun 28 June 11am: East Belfast Score

A Fermanagh event will be coming soon!

For more information and to book a place onto any of the above activities, please contact Ric Gamble at: rgamble@britishorienteering.org.uk (or tel: 07717297676)

Note: due to the need to adhere to current Government and British Orienteering guidelines these activities are for club members only and participants will have to agree to a code of conduct.

Looking forward to seeing us out running again!
